He isn't scrappy and rough enough to be called a brawler imo.

No, Canelo is not a pot-shotter. Pot shots are basic straight punches that aren't designed to inflict damage. Canelo as a come forward fighter doesn't just throw out nothing punches to increase his punch total, he waits for opportunities to load up in big power punches.

So he's really the complete opposite of a pot-shotter. He repeatedly looks for opportunities to load up with flashy eye catching shots that inflict damage, and often is outlanded as a result. Pot-shotters generally throw pot-shots to "be first", to keep the opponent at range. Canelo is often looking for opponents to get in range, so he can slip punches or counter. Pot-shotting doesn't lead to combinations, because if a light straight punch starts up a combination, then that first punch isn't a pot-shot, it's part of a combination. Pot-shotting also negates counter punching opportunities which is one of Canelo's strengths.

Multi-style. He struggles the most against outboxers though like Mayweather and Bivol.

Canelos is more of a power pot shotter now, but his power has became suspect over last 3 years as he's declined. He couldnt dent 44yr old GGG, scored a KD against rugged journeyman Ryder but couldn't stop him, scored a KD against JMW 154lb Charlo but couldnt stop him, and didnt really trouble Bivol at all.

Come to think of it, maybe he's not a power puncher and maybe he's not a pot shotter at all. Your 2nd paragraph was good description

 There's no such thing as a power pot shotter. Those two concepts are incongruent.
Disagree, just because he didn't stop those guys doesn't mean he couldn't. Against Bivol and GGG he had an injured hand. Both would be hard to stop anyway, especially GGG who has a granite chin and was fighting super defensive to avoid getting hurt. Though even with an injured hand, he busted up Bivol's bicep pretty good and marked up GGG early on in that match.

Against Ryder he had him badly hurt and was very close to stopping him. I don't think he couldn't stop him, it's just that he didn't really press for the stoppage. If he really wanted to hurt Ryder after the knockdown, I think he could have, but he sort of let him recover to an extent. Ryder showed heart but had Canelo really pressed the action he definitely could have got him out of there. With Charlo I don't think he really pressed for a stoppage, and of course Charlo was fighting very defensively making it harder than usual to get a stoppage. I think in all of these cases, he was fighting top quality fighters with good defense (Ryder not so much, but the other 3), quickness, experience, good chins, etc that made it hard to get stoppages.

I would warn against underestimating Canelo's power even at this stage in his career. While his work rate and stamina are persistent issues, his power is not something that really should be questioned. While he may be past his prime in some areas of his game, like speed, I would go as far to say that Canelo's punching power could be peak right now. His inability to get stoppages in recent years doesn't mean he's not capable of it. He's very heavy handed and I think any opponent would be a fool to underestimate his power at this point.
He's definitely a power puncher and definitely not a pot shotter. :deal:

Currently Yes, Canelo is definitely on the down side like great fighters he has adapted & switched his way of operating depending on the opponent.

Well we disagree. Fighters dont not stop opponents for any reason other than they cant. Canelo is on a MASSIVE decline. He loads up on single shots and they arent nearly as powerful as he thinks/wants them to be...as evidenced by much lesser opponents going the distance and not taking beatings.

The Canelo who ran through SMW is not the same Canelo fighting today. And, for what its worth, Canelo needs to fight like GGG2 (more speed and better stamina) if he wants to Benavidez...he definitely WONT WIN if he just wants to load up on single shots. Need those fast hands and combinations.

Your strategy would get Canelo knocked out. He can't out speed or outcombo Benavidez. That will never happen as its not Canelo's style. A winning strategy is to do what Canelo does best which also happens to be what Benavidez is vulnerable to: counterpunching to the body.
