It is a bit suspect. When I read eye surgery I assumed it was a detached retina which is common for boxers.

 

Still laughing at the clowns using the weight drain excuse. If you fought at that weight , won belt(s) at that weight, and defended that belt multiple time at weight then you are not weight drained. You just got your ass beat.

 

Spence would have never beaten Crawford. If they'd fought 5 years before it would have been the same result.

Otherwise they would have fought earlier. Haymon just wanted to hang onto belts. He didn't care about the fighter who had the belt/s.

 

Yeah it's suspicious if true, given how easily it is to dope still in boxing even with VADA which isn't really any good if were honest as it's not truly 24/7, 365 days per year testing that so many other athletes in sports have to deal with.

But maybe he has a family history of it or perhaps he's secretly diabetic, or the previous eye trauma from the car accident is the cause as that's apparently a reason for cataracts. But as of now he's never failed a test, so he's clean in my eyes, though with a question mark but that's true of every boxer as the sport simply doesn't have good testing protocols.

Plus he has a mouth full of dental implants after losing his teeth in the crash. And when he gets hit hard, it obviously bothers him as we have seen a couple of times prior to the Bud fight.

Did he lose all his teeth? Upper teeth only? Lower teeth? Either way there is titanium drilled into his jaw bone to hold the dental implants.

He's also come out recently and blamed his poor lifestyle and that he wasn't living the life of a boxer and the loss was always coming. If that's true then he's an idiot. So he knew he wasn't leading the life and knew he wasn't the best he could be why go into a fight with a cataract which doctors supposedly missed in the pre-fight examinations and while not bothering to live a disciplined lifestyle.

I get boxers make excuses, it's a coping mechanism which is understandable, but stick to one excuse, coming up with a new excuse every week just comes off as desperate and false.

 

It’s like the near sighted moyle. Cut in the wrong location and got the sack.

 

3 excuses in a short space of time (not even counting the car accident years prior). Weight drained, not living the life, cataracts.. still at the denial stage it seems.

One becomes more susceptible to cataracts if they've had a previous traumatic eye injury. Spence has already had a traumatic car accident with significant facial damage and, two years later, a detached retina.
