Tony Tucker looked like Joe Louis compared to Vitali. The guys Vitali beat all looked like they had sand bags strapped to their arms and legs

They didn't but to the extent you may have seen that perhaps because it was what Vitali allowed them to do. There are levels here. Don't try to make it so simple.

Douglas was phenomenal against Tyson and during his pervious undefeated streak. However Vitali is a monster and despite his relatively thin body of work, I have to favour him by late stoppage here. I think Douglas would give him trouble, but Vitali is highly durable and awkward. I think he eventually breaks down Douglas, as he did with so many of his previous opponents, winning by TKO. I struggle to see Douglas winning this even on his best night.

Vitali by decision. Douglas was good but basically a one hit wonder, Vitali was more consistent.

I am not going to argue with someone who thinks Douglas beats Lewis. Go ahead and make another thread with a poll, you will be laughed at.

You didn't answer my question. Which win on Vitali's resume sets him apart from Douglas that gives you confidence he wins for sure? Being comprehensive and consistent over terrible competition is not all that impressive in the grand scheme of things. That's probably why you avoided the question..

Lol @ "Tokyo Douglas wasn't all that much"

And I literally told you 2x now that based on average performances Vitali probably wins due to his consistency and you're still complaining.

Yeah, I guess his "heart" and work rate did not work out vs feather fisted and by Heavyweight standards Midget Byrd..................loopsided and one way terms surely manifested in getting his face ripped off by a one foot out the door fat Lewis.......

VK lost to the two best fighters he met, fact.

One hit wonder Tokyo Douglas beat the undefeated undisputed Heavyweight Champion of the World aka he beat the best man he met, fact.

Buster Douglas lost to Jesse Ferguson. Buster Douglas got KO'd by Mike White. Buster Douglas got KO'd by David Bey. Do you really want to bring up the worst performances of both fighters?

And by the way, Douglas was the opposite of Byrd style wise. Every fighter has a kryptonite. Buster was not Vitali's kryptonite. He was right in his wheelhouse.

Vitali was a comprehensive, consistent, overwhelming fighter. Douglas was a blip on the radar who beat low hanging fruit, a tiny little heavyweight who was waiting to be picked... and the simps call that greatness.

    Enjoy your crown.

Hmm? all right you've convinced me. I'll take the one version of Buster that beat Tyson to beat Vitali too.

What , you think that thread doesn't already exist?

This one has a number of esteemed posters making a case for Douglas . Im in there too so if anyone thinks im picking Doug because i don't like Klitschko... wrong! I pick the guy who was visibly better in pretty much every department and tested against an opponent that was about 30-40 places higher than any of Vitali's best opponents. .

That was early in his career Douglas actually got his act together and went on a nice run of form from 86-90.

Douglas beat names like Page, Berbick, McCall, who are all former world champions and who would be some of the most notable names Vitali ever beat who's resume is forgettable.

I also don't see a prime Douglas from 86-90 losing to a Chris Byrd who had a weeks notice.

    Compare Vitali's top 5 wins to Douglas's.

    Douglas's best wins

    Tyson
    Page
    Berbick
    McCall
    Williams or Cobb

Is Vitali's top 5 wins that much better ?

The Klitschkos had some natural ability, but I would say they earned most of their wins. They were hard workers, especially Vitali who could be a little robotic but put in the work to make the most of his tools. I can't think of a fight where Vitali was given a gift or lucky stoppage. Vitali wasn't a dirty fighter and was a genuine h2h threat with his solid chin, stamina, workrate, and height.

    I would say Vitali's top 5 are:

    Sanders
    Peter
    Arreola
    Kirk Johnson
    Chisora

Obviously Douglas has the much better signature top win (Tyson) by a mile. In terms of talent and ability, Page is better than anyone on Vitali's list besides Sanders (although Sanders was getting pretty old and chunky when he fought Vitali). Berbick, McCall, and Cobb are somewhat comparable to Arreola, Johnson, and Chisora.

I would say Douglas wins in quality while Vitali wins in quantity and just being more consistent in general if we're comparing resumes and performance. Vitali has a longer and more convincing reign showing more discipline but was unable to secure many big names to stand out historically. Vitali has other ok names we could include such as Adamek, Gomez, etc but nothing to go crazy over while Douglas' resume gets pretty thin beyond his top 5 so it somewhat evens out.
