Send in the welterweight that you think can make the jump to middleweight and beat Roy Jones Jr. Floyd Mayweather, Jr. you say? Floyd Mayweather, Sr.? Send them both in!

Maybe a dark horse pick here but I'm saying Palomino.

I can see him threshing his way inside, with plenty of fast hooker-cuts detonating on him but nothing he can't walk through - and once he starts laying in with hard thumps on the body he takes away Roy's legs...

note: this is could beat him, not would as in I'd lay money on it.

Ray Leonard and Thomas Hearns. Both would have a decent chance.

the Traditional WW was either side of 5'7" on average and the Traditional MW either side of 5'9"...

so if you go back past the last 40 years or so, in Roy you are really talking a WW verse a L-HW cum HW, given Jones' size,,,

    a) Jones was NEVER truly a MW, even in Modern Times.
    b) and Who would Roy have been fighting in the Past at L-HW and HW???

that is the more accurate scenario and in Roy, he'd be meeting a lot more Tarver's back then.

Leonard (Ray), Robinson, and Hearns would be just about it
    for me.
They all were big enough, and had the skill level.
Especially Hearns, with his height advantages
excellent jab, and threat of the right hand.
Could Jones Jr track down Hearns the way
Leonard did? And Robinson would've ?
He had the skills but would he take the
    chances required is the question.
Personally I feel he'd fight safely and
give Hearns the space to work.
    Ultimate losing because of it.

Over 12 rounds? Prime Hearns can do it. I think 160 version of Hearns that we saw, on his best night, could take RJJ out of there.

Which version of Roy at MW?

I could only think of the genius of Robinson, maybe against a novice version of Roy.

    Nobody else.

And are you talking about a WW bulking up?

Can we use a MW Robinson?

Or are you talking about a WW actually fighting Roy whilst still being a WW?

It would have to be Hearns or Robinson.
