Rabbit punches are brought up in almost every Beterbiev thread. He lands them about as often as Wilder yet only Beterbiev gets called out for it.

Callum Smith was picked by some on this board and he is world class. This was a meaningful fight, but I agree that Bivol needs to fight Beterbiev for unification. Then Canelo can prove himself at 175 and fight the winner. That is a fight I'd pay to watch.

 

He hit Smith on the ear. I don't think Smith's ear is on the back of his head. Plus, if a guy throws a punch and the other guy dips down then it's not a deliberate rabbit punch. Plus, Smith is 4 inches taller; how can AB hit him on the back of the head?

Canelo doesn't have to prove anything at 175. He's too small for that division.

 

If you choose to disengage in a live punching exchange and put your head down as defense, then the punches that would have otherwise landed on your face or guard land on the back of your head. I don't buy that **** one bit. Beterbiev punches these men down and makes them use a certain strategy to avoid getting hit and as a result he may hit the back of the head with some shots but it's only because he's folding people in half first.

 

Man that jab tonight from Beterbiev!! He stayed smart with his attack and was surgical until it was time to step on the gas. Bivol needs to happen next. If it’s not Bivol it doesn’t make sense.
