Two different divisions... you can't write off someone as good as Joe either but at 175 he was old , hard to tell what a prime 175 Joe could have done had he chosen to be a LHW.. at 168 he beats a drained AB.. at 175 Beterbiev clearly has too much pedigree to call it for Joe.
Beterbiev KO Calzaghe would not put a dent in Calzaghe, I reckon it would be similar to the Gvozdzyk fight
Calzaghe fought twice at LHW and was dropped in the first round by both Hopkins and Jones, this does not bode well for Calzaghe against Beterbiev. At LHW Beterbiev stops Calzaghe late,as for fighting at SMW no way Beterbiev gets down to that weight . Just a mythical match up but Calzaghe gets stopped by Beterbiev imo .
So? Ali got knocked down by a small (22 lbs lighter) , elderly (8 years younger) Henry Cooper. Did it matter ? Fighters are judged on fight results, not on knockdowns.
The usual clowns that don't know boxing....Calzaghe was an absolute phenomenon with an incredible boxing brain.
Beterbiev is not exactly a boxing technician. I think Joe pot-shots Artur and frustrates him enroute to a UD.
Close fight but I think Beterbievs power wins the fight, remember Beterbiev is naturally quite a bit bigger than Calzaghe. In addition to Beterbiev's very underrated skillset. Calzaghe hasn't fought anyone quite like Beterbiev. His wins against a very very faded Jones and Hopkins aren't a good measure. Beterbiev fairly narrow points win for me.
Beterbiev would win, he was able to get the better of a 25 year old Usyk at CW/amateur HW ffs. Beterbiev-Calzaghe would be a stylistic mismatch and I say this as a Welshman, I wouldn't want to see it. Calzaghe was also a career SMW.
