Zhang v Parker is a cracking fight and I wouldn't bet against Parker scoring the upset again. Think Zhang wil be in trouble if he's not hurt him by the halfway point. Be interesting to see the odds for that one.
I agree. The Fury-Ngannou build-up and event - which was basically a pay-per-view advert for Saudi Arabia and Riyadh season bothered me a lot. However the 23rd December card was superb - with the quality from top to bottom, an eight hour card did not feel long. I am no fan of Saudi in general, but got to credit them - what they are doing here is superb. This isn't like football or golf where they are taking an established model and trying to break it - here they are taking something that is basically already broken and making it work. They will want to balance the books at some point, but the next year or so should be a very very good one for boxing fans.
Saudi has the money for all the fights and match ups that we have dreamed of in recent years. 2024 is going to be a great year
Saudi stuff is brilliant at the minute but can see it being damaging down the line as nobody will ever want to fight outside of Saudi. Could also lead to us rarely getting top cards in the UK where the atmospheres are best imo. As an example the build up and hype around Fury Joshua in Saudi will be dead af compared to if hosted here. Also don't think we should forget their reasons for doing this and how they're validating their reputation and actions using boxing fans. All that being said I'm enjoying the stuff they're putting together for sure and think we're in for some excellent fights over the next 12-18 months.
I'd kind of missed the second part of this. Well in, His Exellency! Why on earth does AJ insist on that single earbud during a press conference? How Rude!
Defo double edged sword this Saudi thing, positives are fights are getting made but like others have said people will be hanging back wanting there fights to be in Saudi, big fights will dry up else where, and then there's what happens when they get bored or move on or political change for any reason we're does that leave "the big fights getting made". Another negative is having to listen to everyone sucking his excellency off for half the press coneferences
I doubt he got much of a choice, however being in favour and another big payday he’s probably happy to accept whatever they offer.
Like him or hate him, Frank is just that **** that won't die. From the lows of parts of the boxnation years to this is fairly remarkable.
I know a lot of bad stories about Frank Warren, but deep down I have huge respect for the man and I can't help but sympathize with him. He has been ruled out countless times and each time found a way back. Frank Warren is at his best in adversity.
