How this era of heavyweight boxing got exposed

I thought Mcdermott, Cunnigham, and Wallin exposed Fury? Ngannou too? Maybe Fury just has a habit of not training properly and underperforming when he can get away with it.

 

Wilder had already been ouboxed by lesser fighters than Parker, so not much new there. The difference this time was that he couldn't hit the mark with that one punch.

Fury did look absolutely dreadful against Ngannou, though, his technical difienciensis becoming very obvious against someone that big, strong and fast.

 

It wasn't exposed for me, I never rated it that highly.

 

I always felt, and even more strongly now, that Joshua would do a number on Fury if he showed the kind of mentality that Ngannou did. Because I always thought there were plenty of flaws to exploit for someone who consistently got to the right range.

 

Does fury even have a good win?
All his best wins are against aging fighters.
Wlad was almost 40, and Wilder 2 and 3 over 35.
Getting beat up by a wrestler doesn't help.

 

I don’t know about getting exposed. I think they’ve all just got old together and we haven’t realised it. They are all mid to late 30s now and decline at that age for a boxer even heavyweights, is inevitable.

I personally think this era is one of the most exciting ever .

We have with fury a champion and his legendary arrogance , making people love ot hate him . We have with ngannou a boxing novice who is about to roll up the heavyweight division and who has put shut fury,s arrogance in the ring - never seen before.

We have an ukrainian midget who has incredible skills and is about to fight for the undisputed . We have with wilder a nuclear right hand ( even when it did not fire the last fight )

We have with the saudis some crazy guys who dumb any money to make unbelievable fights happen .

Compare this to the last era !

 

I'd much rather have this era than the dross 15 years ago where the two top guys refused to fight each other. Wlad and Vitali (understandably).

I can't think of an HW era more depressing than the Klitschko era still.

 

This. And Fury is an old fat guy who likes to party. Kinda limits your shelf life doing that. Also, a possibility is that Tyson left something in the ring during those three Wilder fights. Not many... well, no one yet has been able to walk through Wilder's best punches to victory. The Wilder of the Parker fight couldn't pull the trigger due to age and wear and tear, or maybe even rust, and Parker never got Wilder's best in return.

In the end, it is as stated above, these guys are old.

 

Yup the top guys are old and inactive, which has resulted in the rest of the ladder who might want to challenge having to wait and wait and wait

 

No offence, but that video sounds like it's been made by someone jumping on a band waggon who doesn't actually watch boxing much at all.

I’m not saying its a great era of boxing but if that’s the case how many times did Lewis, Tyson and Ali get exposed? No matter how great a boxer is they’ll always get tough fights from a lesser boxer who shows up wanting t all, has a stylistic advantage or the star boxer shows up out of shape.
