I was watching this video of a sugar Ray Robinson vs Jake Lamotta Documentary and they spoke on the brutality of the 13th round. I went back and watched it and it was brutal, Lamotta wouldn't go down! Do you all think it's the most brutal round in boxing history?

I mean there were people puking in the isles back in the day. Tommy West-Tommy Ryan, one of those fights was openly compared to a butcher's yard given the amount of blood in the ring. But on film, it's got to be that crazy final round between Ike Williams and Beau Jack where the referee decided to see if Willaims could kill Jack. First fight I think.

If we’re not including ring tragedies, there’s the awful late stoppage in Ike Williams-Beau Jack

I don’t know but anytime I see a rabbit punch it makes me uncomfortable - ever since I was a kid I was told, that even in a street fight it was taboo.

Round 8 of Duran-Moore was pretty bad.

Also, there was a fight between Heavyweights Alex Garcia & Bernard Benton back in 1990 that's worth a mention. Garcia was teeing off on an already out Bernard Benton, and several flush bombs landed...about as bad as the Ike Williams-Beau Jack fight mentioned above. I believe the ref was suspended because of that fight.

Williams and Jack immediately came to mind on this thread, great description too. Williams could have killed him.

He looked as if he thought he might have after the fight 'officially' ended. That was a very mooted celebration, very uneasy. I'm not sure if there was bad blood between the two or if I'm getting mixed up with Bob Montgomery. I know he and Ike hated each other.

Ike had been looking at the ref as if to say 'Really?' before resuming the battering. Now if a fighter turns away and leaves himself open and fighter B cannot take advantage, then the ref has to read between the lines. Shocking performance. But how tough was Beau Jack?

Duran Moore rd 8 for me, not counting the stoppages where someone actually died.
