This HW era was never great but I feel like it´s easy to say that Fury is not all that just now, 2 years ago and he was this h2h monster, so slick for his size and all that....

It had potential to be great as well as something we've never seen before, but due to how cowardly and lazy the division is that potential turned to mush. It atleast beats the Klitchsko's era however.

AJ lost to CW undisputed champion, albeit a clear ATG. But he also lost to Fatboy Ruiz, a loss that isn't going to age well. Wilder lost 3 times to Fury, but the continual claims that Fury is this fleet footed HW ATG have never had any merit. Then Wilder lost 12-0 to Parker, a boxer past his prime with a suspect gas tank. Fury's best win was when he squeaked past a very poor Wlad, ducked the contractual rematch, and then ducked AJ for undisputed, whose capacity has been verified as per above. Wlad was also KOed by lower level HWs, which means he loses major points in the ATG stakes.

Since Lennox Lewis, the HW division has had Vitali, Usyk, and a chasm until the next best. Pretty poor but there are some good upcoming HWs including Hrgovic, Zhang, and Sanchez.

Hopefully the Wilder and Fury fascade will be finally put to bed soon.

Wilder never was a big three. He has beaten nobody. They are saying he is washed up at 38, but his claim to fame in the first place is beating up a "38" year old Cuban nobody who is probably in reality much older, so...

It is no great shame to get beaten by Usyk.

Fury wasn't exposed so much as he is deteriorated from spending his entire adult lifetime being obese, alcoholic, coke addicted, PEDs abusing...and very occasionally a fighting man.

Yes , i remember that era very well and it was just boring with the klitschkos . Mostly bum fights , especially after a loss , and a strange promotion about two glorious and polite brothers where their mother prohibited them to fight each other .

People were stupid and believed the Wilder hype train despite him never beating a world level opponent. Wilder displayed his clear limitations and weaknesses throughout his career against poor opposition.

This is a very good HW division era, with plenty of great HWs, it's just that Wilder was never one of them.

There's a certain amount of truth in this...

This isn't a brilliant HW era, it's okay at best.

But it's been turned into a circus by the overhyping of Wilder, that persisted after struggling to a draw with comically unfit Fury (who then became GOAT, because how else could he equal or beat the best of this era without even being fit?)... Then Wilder got humiliated by Parker and Fury by novice Ngannou - and the whole narrative falls apart.

And yet, you can still bet that there will be an oven ready excuse when Usyk humiliates Fury.

It's a mess - if the best fought the best across the board, and the orgs stopped letting fighters avoid the big fights (WBC with Wilder being the obvious, very long running example) then things would probably be less controversial - it's the lack of evidence that allowed these illusions and delusions to thrive in the first place.

This is the typical narrative here from some .

So, wilder is a pure bum even when he was 5 years wbc champion and has +45 hw fights . He became it by ducking everybody .

Fury was knocked down by the tiny amateur guy next door francis so fury is just a fat belly ;-)

The only goat is usyk .

No matter he except aj in his hw career fought the weakest available opponents on the market and even then he counted just 5 hw fights and got his belts from only one opponent .

I honestly expected a bit more from you .

I guess there was always a question mark over the era as the division was basically divided in two by promotional ties. The way Wilder lost to Parker it does throw into doubt the quality of Fury's wins over Wilder. We were all perhaps too eager to raise him to the position of number 1 in the division off those win without him even fighting Joshua the perceived number 1 guy. Then Joshua lost and we've been waiting for Fury/Usyk for so long. I guess we'll get our answers soon, if Usyk beats Fury you'd have to question if Fury truly is even the 2nd best of his era he'd need to fight Joshua to know for sure.

But I wouldn't right Fury off, he did easily beat Whyte who was one of the better heavies from Matchroom, who does have a win albeit somewhat controversially over Parker. He has always been inconsistent so the Ngannou performance might be misleading. If he beats Usyk then it again throws off what we now perceived the division to be. Fury is such an enigma, goes from looking beatable one fight then unbeatable the next.

He's a fringe contender level fighter at best.

His best win, Ortiz, is dubiously top ten at all.

Let's not pretend Wilder beat a serious contender to win his belt, or that he fought any fit, serious contender until Fury #2.

He became WBC champion by beating fairly average Stiverne and stayed champion for 5 years mostly by ducking legit contenders.

Fury went into the fight unfit and nearly got beaten as a result.

Fury at 100% is nowhere near that version.. but he made himself look silly by turning up in that condition, yes.

Usyk is genuinely in the conversation for goat cruiser.

In 5 fights at heavy his two wins over Joshua are worth more than Wilder's entire career.

Whether he's a legit atg at heavy or not, he's consistently fit in the ring and doesn't mess around - he's a serious, elite fighter.

Fury is in many ways the Donald Trump of boxing...

He's enigmatic, charismatic, inconsistent and how good he really is is clouded by the storms of controversy that regularly surrounds him.

    "4D Chess" = "Gypsy Magic"

I agree with majority of what you said.

I do believe this current HW era is underrated though. I do believe there is more depth in quality compared to Klitschko era or Tyson late 80s era.

Yeah that's how I view this era too. The Klitschko's were great and on par if not better than Fury and Usyk, but that era's had no depth at all. Povetkin was really the only other good fighter in that era. I'd say it's an average to pretty good era now just because we have so many fighters of a quality that could beat the others, depending on styles as the recent Parker/Wilder fight proved.

I think the next era will be worse this this era for sure, I don't see anyone who stands out as having the potential as the top guys now other than maybe Jalolov.

Thats a senseless back and forth argueing . Lets wait what ge shows against fury . Up to now he got at the saudian blockbuster fights only a spectator seat . Strange when he us such a legacy in hw ?
