No, but that video might qualify in some of it's deliverances.

 

I was thinking Duran/Moore myself. Maybe the ref wanted to see if Duran could actually punch a hole through Moore? I don't think I ever saw a boxer so exhausted sent out to fight by his corner and a ref so who-gives-AF that just watches the dude getting pounded. They should have stopped it in the 7th.

 

Totally agree that it should have been stopped in the 7th.

A few seconds before they finally waved it off, I remember seeing a few people (Jose Torres among them) at ringside frantically trying to get the ref to stop it. Not sure what the ref was waiting for exactly...

 

Well I think if we are going to put it in argument as the most brutal round in boxing history, sadly we may have to go with some of the most tragic fights in history. Paret Griffith III round 13 still haunts the sport to this day with Griffith trapping Paret on the ropes and unloaded on a helpless Paret with a barrage of punches, only from Paret to die ten days later after being knock in a coma. Yeah we can talk about our Dempsey Willards ete, but this was on other level.

Should have been stopped on a DQ when Duran thumbed Moore, actually. Funny how that rarely gets mentioned, or if it does it’s only in passing.

And that wasn’t even the most brutal fight on the card. Luis Resto with the padding taken out of his gloves by Panama Lewis, battered Billy Collins’ face for 10 rounds, leaving him legally blind in one eye IIRC. One of the worst offenses in boxing history.

Of course when Panama got out of prison, Mike Tyson hired him. SMFH.

 

It was brutal but not the most brutal, I think it gets put in that territory because of Raging Bull.

 

That scene In raging bull didn’t look brutal at all. De Niro just stood there on the ropes an took everything that was thrown at him without even looking like he would go down or even feeling the punches that much.Garbage scene.In the real fight La Motta was staggering around like a drunk from all the shots before he backed into the ropes an looked defenceless an out on his feet when the ref stepped in.

 

True but more people probably have seen the movie than the actual fight footage and I still think that’s why it’s in people’s consciousness rather than the brutality of the moment. I vote for Williams-Jack or Griffith-Paret as far as the OP.
