Boxxer - Mazhar Majeed

Posted the article last night but looks like it got deleted. Lots to unravel.

 

Hearn was asked last night about it and came up evasive as usual - never dealt with him but know he represents Eubank Jr (so who was involved in the 18 months of Eubank-Benn negotiations?) - only to then say "dealt with him over the Haye-Bellew fight, which was 10, 8, 7 years ago or whatever, long ago". There's more to this for sure.

 

Noticed that, contradicted himself in the space of a few seconds. Eddie might be losing his touch. It's usually a few interviews down the line before he backtracks on some of the porkies he was telling.

 

Hearn is very skilled at looking and sounding like he is telling the truth when spouting garbage, lies and spin.

 

Yeah he usually keeps it together quite well even when his nose is growing faster than Pinocchio's. Impressive that he even keeps a straight face a lot of the time, like when he said Usyk vs Bellew was close to a 50-50 fight.

 

Eddie has literally never had any dealings with him. The guy got influence at Sky and managed to help Shalom get the Sky contract.

He told them he could deliver Okolie and Buatsi to them and the deal was done. It is this guy that Eddie had a massive falling out with due to tampering with his fighters and his contracts. He has to sue Boxxer/Okolie/Buatsi as it is them that officially broke his contract not Majeed.

Majeed has a massive amount of growing influence and has done over the last 3/4 years. Only boxxer and Sky have a working relationship with him.

Okolie no longer follows Majeed or Novasports which is interesting in itself

 

What’s the point in Hearn suing? I’d understand if it was AJ or Katie Taylor but I’d be glad to be rid of Okolie and Buatsi.

 

Makes a point that he won’t stand for it, and if he wins probably puts a stop to it happening to any of his other fighters.

 

Because he has a contract. He has done a shed load of money on Buatsi in building him. He’s at a point to earn some of that money back in his career and Sky have signed him despite Him having a contract. The contract is pretty watertight just like Okolies where he settled. The only point Buatsi tried to make was around matching rights and Sky having a bigger platform giving him a get out. There is no coincidence he tried to sign his contract before DAZN announced their launch on Sky. Which happened at the same time. Boxxer have repeatedly interfered in contracts with Matchroom fighters and also Queensbury fighters hence rubbing people the wrong way.

if Matchroom didn’t hold their position it enables boxxer to essentially come after any fighter under contract and sign them. No business in their right mind would allow that to happen especially after forking out a fortune on them.

 

This! They tried to do the same with Dalton Smith. And I know for a fact they tried to spoke to Conor Benn, Terri Harper, Wardley and Cordina some of which whilst still under contract.

because it’s persistent this lawsuit makes Matchrooms position clear

 

Fair points mate. Don’t think I’d be worried about anyone leaving for Boxxer anymore though shown themselves to be crap and Hearn now has access to the Saudi money.
