Saw Mario Lopez say that if Usyk beats Fury he's number 1 P4P. Does a win vs Fury jump him to the top spot?
Disturbing how Inoue's and Usyk's achievement are being lowballed to accommodate the idea that Crawfraud should be ranked above them.
Not sure why people act like he's not in the conversation now for being #1. I personally have him at #2 behind Inoue but you can certainly make a strong case for him being #1 too. If he beats Belly it's not even debatable whether he is or not.
Even if he doesn't he's 'P4P' no.1 just based on his cruiserweight performance, and then we add the wins at HW where he beat fighters far bigger. better than any of these others. We all know if he was born in Murica and grew up in 'Philly' or 'Detroit' they'd already be producing movies about him and erecting statues, and he'd be considered the greatest fighter who ever lived.
Sure i think so. It can change as the year goes on though. He might not end up as #1 P4P depending on what fights happen during the year.
If he beats Fury’s then as the undefeated and undisputed heavyweight champion, in reality he is automatically the best fighter in the world based on the simple but undeniable fact that he could or would be favoured to beat any other boxer in the world in a boxing match. As for in mythical P4P terms, I still think that puts him above fighters like Crawford and Inoue, who are undoubtedly great multi weight champs, but I still think it’s a more impressive feat moving up from cruiserweight and still able to win all the belts and becoming undisputed against established incumbent champions like Fury and Joshua who still outweigh him by 30-40+ pounds as well as being clearly taller, stronger and harder hitting than him.
Always has been But boxing fans always seem to miss the true talent, Fury included. Both of these men before they fell out of prime have been doing things men of their size should not be able to do and have never been able to do. They are the first of their kind and they were ignored.
He won and unified all of his world titles in his opponent's backyards and he has only had two Ukrainian officials for all his world title fights. It's extremely common for fighters from across the pond to have a full set of home officials for world title fights against foreigners over there. How does that impact things? It's huge. Loma would at very worst have one loss right now if he had home officials and countless other fighters would've become world champions or never lost their belts He unified a very strong CW division in just 15 fights and won 3/4 of the belts at HW in just 19 fights and has only had one 'home' fight since his 9th fight and that was in Poland He's gone through a murderer's row of murderous punching KO artists and legit bangers like no other current champ, some of the hardest punchers in the sport, a number of whom way bigger than him Crawford has only fought one genuine legit banger his size and he was dropped by the them. Imagine what the power of a same size Gassiev, Briedis or a way bigger AJ and Dubois would do to that mandible and those are just a few of the punchers Usyk has fought. Usyk is crossing a minefield everytime he fights. One tiny mistake and it can be game over. He's playing the video game the old fashioned way with 3 lives and no save points And he's giving away huge physical advantages up at HW that no one else in the P4P top 10 is nor even close. That's not even the definition of P4P it's actually much more impressive
I voted no, but think there won't be much between Inoue and Usyk if Usyk beats Fury. Inoue has climbed through more divisions and became undisputed in two weight classes in two years time. But how do you compare these moves through the weights? And I don't think Inoue has beaten anyone as good as Fury. So either answer is good to me.
So, Crawford's win over Spence wasn't lowballed? Spence was a bad dude, the fight was 50/50, up until the opening bell rang, then Spence was drained, had brain damage etc. If Crawford never faced Spence at 147, he would have been crucified. Crawford goes out and destroys Spence and he gets zero credit. That being said, Crawford, Inoue and If Usyk beats Fury, all make a case for #1. At this point I have to favor Inoue over Crawford for #1. Just slightly.
