It wasn't a big problem, but I'd have liked Benavidez instead of either GGG (who clearly was past his best) and at least Charlo, who brought nothing to the table except for a bit of name recognition. I could live with it even though I certainly started to feel somewhat impatient, but if it doesn't happen this year it's outright crap.
Michael Jackson is a household name. Muhammad Ali is a household name. Golovkin is nowhere close. Find out what a household name is first.
So let me get this straight, you are justifying Canelo cherry picking and not facing the clear number 1 challenger in his division despite the fact this is his fourth year fighting at 168? Are we now saying it’s ok for fighters to hold belts hostages and not face their top challengers? Come on, even you don’t believe what you are saying.
If its gonna be fights like this he may as well do 5 of them a year. Nobody would have a problem with 1/4 Fights being serious if he fought every 2-3 Months again. But if its gonna be september and may, we will have to wait years. Hes wasting the tail end of his prime like this.
I've been somewhat negative towards Canelo over the years. But to be honest, if it was AJ doing this, people would excuse it. AJ's run after losing to Usyk is legendary at this point. Canelo lost to Bivol, so he should at least be allowed four tune-ups and get to duck Wilder twice. I don't know if it's a Mexicanism thing or what, but the guy comes to fight, whether it's Super Khan, concussed Kovalev or undead Rocky Fielding. Enjoy him while he's around!
What is it with you and AJ? Has he sodomised the girl of your dreams after slapping you around the head? Canelo is undisputed and with that comes certain obligations, AJ is just another contender. Signing with two top 10 fighter in a year is not bad for someone who doesn't hold any titles. Your boy Fury didn't sign with a single top 10 opponent in 2019. The best he's faced when it hasn't been for a title or a mandatory or a rematch clause is Chisora. Canelo on the other hand is the champion of his division and he has now gone two years without defending against what has been clearly the best guy out there during this time. Credit to him that he took a punt with someone like Bivol, and Ryder is decent, but unless Mungia beats Ryder like he's his daddy there's no one who even comes close to Benavidez as top contender. And as a champion, not to be confused with a contender, that's just the kind of opposition you should defend against. And, yes, I know you're hurting because of the flak Fury is getting, but that's because he blatantly ducked the other standout in the division, even going so far as faking being in camp, and had a debutant to competitive boxing as his only opponent during the year. So even AJ:s year of building his confidence and contender status pissed all over Fury's. That's why you're boy is getting much more **** than Joshua, not because Joshua is loved here, which he quite obviously isn't. Your boy shat the bed, you just have to make your peace with that.
Canelo is a good fighter and a popular fighter but he's not a great fighter. He struggles w top competition in Lara, Floyd, Cotto, GGG, and Bivol. He's just not in the mix w Crawford, Inoue, Usyk, and Beterbiev (or Bivol)
What´s wrong with Joshua´s current run? He took a tuneup vs a very game Jermaine Franklin Jr. Joshua was then supposed to fight Whyte, who at the time was top 15 if not top 10. And in his last fight he fought Wallin. What´s wrong with that run? It´s not as if there are any available belt holders for him to challenge. Also, Wilder was supposed to be after Wallinn. But the Bronze Bomber shat the bed on that one. And now the Saudi´s threw a **** ton of money at Joshua so that he would fight Ngannou.
So its Al's fault and not Canelos? The cash cow cannot choose who he fights? When did this start because I never heard it before in my life. Poor old Canelo being forced to fight all these lay up fights.
