I accept your concession that Manny won the first fight. Pacman haters can never respond because they know it's irrefutable. Marquez employed a notorious PED dealer and, suddenly, at at age 40 became more powerful and explosive than ever before. Look at the mans shoulders it they looked like he had bowling balls under his skin. I hate to break it to you but you don't get that physique naturally at any age much less 40. Manny physique was always constant with how he looked when he was younger. I guess you could make the argument he was juicing when on the streets in the Philippines without enough money to afford to feed himself properly but that would be pretty dumb.
How can a guy who has achieved what pacquiao has achieved be overrated? Pacman is an ATG. It's as clear as day.
Can’t be a serious thread. Pac is a certified ATG and rightly so. I had Marquez beating him twice but regardless, styles make fights and Marquez is a great legend himself. Manny could have been a b*tch and avoided fighting him again if he wanted to. When you take on challenges, you’re gonna win some and you’re also gonna lose some. In my opinion, any fighter who gets to 50-0 these days without a single defeat, hasn’t been taking on the toughest challenges out there.
I remember some of the hypothetical threads on the forums where people discussed the possibility of Manny fighting Hatton, Mosley, Cotto etc Anybody who claimed he could win any of those fights was ridiculed. Makes you realise just how amazing his achievements are.
Absolutely not. Don’t be silly. His stock will rise exponentially over the years, much like Duran. At some point he may end up overrated, but he will have earned that reputation.
The division was far from weak and he had some big wins there. Considering how many divisions he climbed through, his run at welterweight was ATG worthy.
Mayweather Pacquiao Cotto Margarito Mosley Khan Marquez Bradley Ortiz Maidana Judah Hatton Alexander I'm sure I'm missing a lot of names too.
Margarito and Mosley were shot. Cotto was all but damaged goods by the time Pacquiao got to him. Hatton wasn't a WW. Judah was done as a fighter. Man you're reaching. I rest my case with the rest.
With that kind of criteria, there is no such thing is a strong division/ era as every era can be picked apart. Personally, I enjoyed that era with the big regret that Floyd and Pacquiao didn't fight each other in their primes.
