Ok I’ll say it…… he’s still waiting for his man strength.

I can see him slowing down as he did take time off and from experience I can say that I myself am not as fast at 30 than I was in my mid 20s.
    But shot?

Sergio Martinez at middleweight. He looked absolutely amazing all the way up to and including the Chavez Jr. fight.

Compared to how great he was, yes I would call that shot. He looked to me to have lost a tremendous amount of speed and reflexes, but this is all opinion of course.

Froch is a good call. Lennox was done. He had a long career and made the right decision.

Hamed was only 28 when he retired, but his hands had completely gone. Definitely agree with Ward too.

Now that's a proper example. I never regard champions who get out on top as retiring too early.

Kovalev was winning the 2nd fight and as per the rules should have had 5 minutes recovery time, this after he showed up in the worst shape of his career smelling of vodka to camps and his coach gave Ward's team tips about body shots.

Alexander Frenkel mysteriously retired with mental health issues following his savage KO win over Enzo Maccarinelli. At 23-0 18 KOs with a European title and a win over a former champ, he seemed destined to become a champ and it all ended just as he reached the precipice of that opportunity.

Ryan Burnett is an interesting one; was initially favoured against Donaire in the WBSS but had to retire from the fight with a back injury. He fought once more but to never fight again; if it wasn't for his injuries he would probably have left a legacy as one of NI's better fighters.

Froch timed his retirement to absolute perfection.

He was a throw back fighter who fought a who’s who of his division pretty much back to back… gaining the respect of many. Then he signed off with the best punch he threw in his career in front of how many people at Wembley ??

With all his faculties in tact, a top resume and a lot of bunce in the bank !

A lot depends on how many fights you've had, your style, and how much punishment you've taken.

Ernesto Marcel retired at the age of 25 right after he beat Alexis Arguello and became champion. He was a brilliant boxer who could have stayed in the game longer but voluntarily retired after he promised his mother that he would stop boxing.

Very much so - some bodies will take more punishment than others and keep going... Some guys will embrace wars and others will love sheltered careers.

The one is a force multiplier on the other, as it were.
