Has to be Frazier, better win perhaps the best win in the history of the division plus two other very close fights with Ali This one win is greater than Mike's accomplishments and this is coming from a Tyson fan
A slight edge to Tyson here. Whilst Frazier inarguably has the best win, Tyson has the more consistent record, as he all but cleaned out the division. Had Frazier fought and beat the likes of Norton, Shavers, Lyle and Mac Foster, he'd be above Tyson by quite a lot.
Tyson has charisma (fever) and fans on his side. And he is better H2H than Frazier (1988 Tyson). But ATG is better Frazier. Frazier only lost to 2 boxers in his career, and out of those two, he won one. This content is protected
Frazier -more consistent career from beginning to end -fought the tougher competition overall -better mentality as an ATG - never lost via KO, quit or intentionally DQ’d himself
Joe might have had the greatest heavyweight win of the century...over an under-30 Muhammad Ali. He dominated the heavy realm for what, 5 years? Made it undisputed against prime Ellis (a better fighter than he's often given credit for), stopped Quarry (same). In three years Mike beat a prime Tony Tucker and Frank Bruno, plus the undisputed and record-holding (the latter as a light heavy for the heavy title) Michael Spinks. To me all those guys together don't make an Ali...I'm not even sure Tucker and Bruno were Ellis-level. Tucker was too inconsistent and Bruno got knocked out a lot. Please understand, I'm a big fan of both...probably a bit more toward Joe because of his ridiculously huge heart.
Probably Joe Frazier. He had the Olympic gold medal, a win over a near prime Muhammad Ali and didn’t lose to someone on Buster Douglas’s level. In fact the worst person he lost to was George Foreman. He also has a pretty deep resume with wins over Quarry, Ellis, Bonavena, Bugner and Chuvalo. Tyson did manage to become the youngest heavyweight champ and has stellar wins over Spinks, Bruno, Tucker, Berbick and Thomas. But I just don’t think it’s a resume that makes the upper echelon
