Is indeed...I worried with all the weight division championships and such a uniquely long career he'd be obvious, but then figured maybe he helps the puzzle pieces fall in place for the rest.

    Nice work @Fogger and @Jel!

Other boxing champs to have owned exotic large felids include: Jack Johnson (pet leopard), Floyd Mayweather Jr. (cheetah and tiger), Canelo (lion), and George Foreman (lion).

Kickboxing champion and mixed-martial-artist Tyrone Spong has a cougar (which he actually got in trouble for when it got loose recently) but is yet to win a belt under Queensberry rules. He is 14-0 (13) and returning to action in March for the first time since before Covid - and had previously been world ranked - so never say never...

I wasn't able to find any examples of representation for those glamour species' poor cousins: no jaguars, caracals, servals, ocelots, pallases, or lynxes owned by world titlists. :ohno

Manny Pacquiao did also adopt a tiger, albeit symbolically as part of his governmental duties. The actual tiger continued to reside in a zoo in the Philippines.

Quite surprisingly, Livingstone Bramble never had any felines among his impressive menagerie of unusual domesticated companions.

    The strawweight is Chaozhong Xiong.

I'm guessing that the binding tie is that they are the first from their country to win a world championship.

    Alright, hint...

Chaozhong Xiong is the straw. Of the remaining three names two, like Xiong, hail from countries that are or have been ruled by Communist regimes - while the last has a nation that adopted "Third Way" policies.

And yes, super featherweight and junior lightweight are one and the same division - but each is the name of the championship either person held.
