No way could Marciano have beaten a full fleged 220 pound modern ranked heavy, no way, my friend. If these old, blown up lightheavyweights could floor Marciano, then...
This thread is obviously kept at a typical spectator-fanboy level and unless e.g you show that you have a bit more knowledge in this business we should leave it there and simply say usyk is of course the greatest athlete , the cleanest boxer and especially his promoter says always the thruth ! You decide
Just look at what Michael Moorer and Michael Spinks did, both were light heavyweights who made the move up and look what they achieved. Marciano for me would have obliterated a guy like Martin.
Again, where have I ever stated that? All I said was that he is simply no relevant here as he is clearly by no means not the weakest heavyweight champion ever. I then demonstrated using past examples such as Charles Martin as to why this was the case. You on the other hand have decided to use childish arguments, get very upset, and throw a fit when I called your point deluded. Either stop trolling or actually try to produce a logical argument.
They were mordern, tall lightheavyweights with a long reach. Marciano was short, had the shortest reach of all so called heavy champs, you are not gonna tell me, a man like that, dispite his courage and heart, would stand a chance in hell vs. the mentioned men, sir???
I think he would have, Mike Tyson was 5’11 and he destroyed plenty of much bigger guys. Marciano beat plenty of excellent fighters who were far more talented than those guys. I don’t think your point is completely irrelevant though, and I think you raise valid arguments. I just think Martin and Stiverne would not have the talent to even deal with a smaller much more skilled guy like Marciano.
There is no comparison between Marciano and Tyson. Except heart Tyson is levels and levels above Marciano. Marciano was not very fast and he had a swarmer-like style. That sort of style is effective on boxer-like fighters the same size as Marciano. A swarmer like Marciano, not very fast, and with a crouch-like stance would be so very easy to deal with for bigger men than RM. No way is RM going to connect on a ranked tall modern heavy with a 66 inch reach. At a certain point size matters and given RM's style and lack of, well, I could go on and on. The few big men RM faced, were third raters. On top level heart and will is just not enough to win if you don't have the physical tools to deal with a big man like Martin. Once again, I am not claiming RM was a bad fighter, cause I view him as a good fighter vs. guys on his same size. But that is not what we are debating here. We are debating who was poorest champ in the big men's division, and as much as it hurts me to write as I am writing, I just can't imagine RM's chances against almost all former heavy champs, past and present. Figure Marciano vs Max Baer and, please, call a priest to save Rocky!!! My apologies... Stay safe!
Can you give me your definition what you mean with 'the weakest hw champion in history' so we can exclude to have different criterias in mind ?
Its pretty self explanatory, who was the weakest heavyweight champion based on their ability and who they beat to become a champion/defended against.
Audley Harrison beat "The Dutch Sonny Liston" Richel Hersisia for the coveted WBF Heavyweight Belt back in the day don't you know...
Really this ? You want to seriosuly judge the ability of the opponents on a subjective guess for fighters boxing decades and eras apart including different techniques , nutrintions , gear and very important : promoters ??? Like said : spectator - fanboy level . I give you a hint : its overall impossible to make an educated guess on your question . If overall : only the amount of fights x the ranking of the opponent at the time of fight might bring some light in .
John Ruiz was really weak. Valuev and Bird weren't much better. Fury or Joshua could beat any of those guys.
