This has been the most poorly planned and marketed big fight ever..... This is for the Undisputed Heavyweight title and they have had ONE presser?? Not even a US channell for PPV has been announced. One site says DAZN, other says ESPN plus. Undercard looks good as long as the production comes off... At this point, I have my doubts that Fury and Usyk will actually fight, and if they do, it will probably only do about 75k in the USA due to poor marketing. Shameful
Based on Boxrec, the Jai Opetaia v Marius Briedis fight is off the undercard. Opetaia may not have just been booted out of camp for beating up on Fury, he may have been kicked off the show. No news of this in the media.
For a fight that's supposed to be an important event for the current HW division it's really devoid of any kind of advertising or hype. A lot of casual viewers probably don't even know that this fight is taking place in a few weeks. It's seems like there's not a lot of care for this fight at all. This is such poor marketing for a "big fight".
US has to get past the Super Bowl on 11 February before giving a damn about any other sporting event.
Awesome to have it so close. I forgot how close it is. Great match up. I hope Usyk dethrones him and I believe he will. Beauty.
I've seen people making a fuss over this elsewhere, but aside from the fact it's been removed from BoxRec, I haven't seen any confirmation that the fight was removed from the card.
The promo is boring, just like all the other fights that the Saudis are putting on. They are helping the fighters get paid, but they are also slowing killing what's left of the sport. This fight needed to be at Wembley.
It's not by accident. Fury and Usyk are not the 'brands' UK and US media normally promote and don't fit the agendas. Usyk only slightly does recently because the Ukraine war, but that crusade has died down quite a bit, and without that he's a white conservative male with a wife and kids.
