Buddy 6'6" ,240/250 lbs has wins over; Galento Simon Campolo Mann Savold Would he ,at his best, crack todays top ten?
Wait a minute. You mean they had heavyweights that big during that era? Some on this site think they all were the size of middleweights. But to your question, I'm sure he could be maneuvered into a world title shot, and would be in the top ten. Especially if he sold himself through social media as they do today. After all is he that much worse than Hgovic, Joyce, Parker, Zhang , Wilder , Joshua, or Fury ? My opinion he's was better than most I listed who are in the top ten today.
Yes I'm sure he could. He had the size, power to rumble with the big boys of today. Like to see him against Andy Ruiz!!
I'd confidently favor all the above men over Buddy in a heart beat. Even the lethargic rusty Wilder who lost to Parker. You could also add Ruiz, Arreola, among others to that list.
Not that much film on Baer for me ( At least) to make that assumption. What I've read on Baer is he used his height and reach well and could jab. What I do know is Joyce, Zhang , or Parker never had to deal with someone who could make them reluctant to use the jab. Like Joseph L Barrow did to Baer, which is basically the only film that can be studied of him. It's easy to appear to have a decent jab when most of the opponents they've faced couldn't spell " counter it".
Buddy with todays training would be able to find success in todays era, as long as Joe Louis didn't follow him.
Yes, in today’s top 10. There’s huge latitude here. They remain inactive for up to 2 years, but still hold onto their spot. If someone like Ruiz can win an alpha belt, god knows how long ago, and only win 2 out of 3 against moderate opposition since then, Bud would flourish, with a good trainer.
