Was surpised by how strong Mungia was. He pushed Ryder around despite being much rangier.

I was interested as to why anyone would use ellerbe as a username. Presumably it’s your similar sized nostrils.

    Thank you.

It's obvious why Munguia had more success.

The sole reason I picked Munguia to destroy Ryder was because of Munguia's punch output. Ryder nor Canelo throw as much as Munguia.

I knew the "Ryder is shot" was going to he a favorite.

What people fail to realize is that Ryder is tailored made for Munguia.

Low output slow brawler against a high output faster brawler.

To me it was easy to pick Munguia.

Didn't you pick Ryder to win this fight?

Pre match you were talking Ryder up as being by far the most difficult opponent of Mungai's career so the matchmaking can't have been that predatory since you felt Ryder was going to win.

Yeah, for sure. His punch resistance has always been very good. I think the Clenelo fight was the first time he'd been dropped in his career and the fact he only went down once in that one was really impressive given the punishment he took in it. The way he was reacting to shots is not the same anymore.

In one way it's good because they were talking about putting him in with Benavidez and Morrell and there was no way he wasn't going to take an absolutely horrible pounding against either especially after all the damage he took against Clenelo.

Both Benavidez and Morrell will beat Mung into a quivering heap but like Clenelo he don't want that smoke with either.

Now that we have slept since the fight and cooler heads hopefully have prevailed.

This is the same Ryder that I’ve seen from previous fight. He has always been a slow starter and eats way to many punches. Ryder has always relied on his chin and hoping the other guy slows down in the later rnds. The difference was tonight he fought a guy that can throw for 12 rnds. Sure he isnt the same as a younger Ryder but he is far from past it in my opinion.

    Exactly

I think he's done after this fight. Ryder said he only wants big fights otherwise he'll hang them up.

Munguia did better than I expected; his straight right to the body and head in the earlier rounds caused Ryder a heap of problems. At the time of the stoppage Ryder was coming back into the fight; credit to Munguia, he carries fight changing power throughout the twelve rounds.

I know its convenient to make up that excuse when a fight doesn't go as you predicted but its generally baseless and just discredits his opponent. I saw no evidence of Ryder being shot at all. He looked exactly like the John Ryder that got stopped by Blackwell 9 years ago.

People who understand the sport have been saying Canelos performance vs Ryder was mediocre and he should have did to him what Mungia did, and they were right. Mungia treated a C level British fighter exactly how he should be treated.
