Good solid performance from the sounds of it, I missed it but I do think Munguia is decent.

He has improved a lot under Roach. Boxed very smart last night and despite a good albeit damaged boxer in front of him also was defensively responsible. Only haters can disparage his performance.

That being said, he is a level below Benavidez. For that reason alone I can see Canelo picking him as an opponent.

Yeah teaming up with Freddie Roach was a smart move, Roach appears to be doing a fantastic job. Munguia looked great last night. Ryder is not what he once was but he is still a tough fight for most but Munguia made it look easy. I like him and enjoy watching him fight.

Exactly, I thought Munguia showed significant improvement, he was composed under pressure and controlled the fight with his boxing. I won cash betting on a Munguia ko last night, I thought with Ryder's inactivity, style and age he'd get stopped inside 10 . I was beginning to think it'd go the distance and I'd lose but when that body shot dropped Ryder I knew it was over. I always get a kick out of the following days analysis of the fight, the people who roared War Ryder, will be the loudest voices saying he was a shot fighter. Hard to say how diminished he was really but I did think he had all the ingredients to be a slipping force at 168. Where does Munguia go from here? Canelo will fight anyone but Benavidez and Munguia qualifies but after this fight it' will be a much harder scrap than Canelo wants .

I knew nothing of Mungia before yesterday but I have to say his performance against Ryder was pretty good. I might become a fan of we see another SMW fight against someone of greater quality and he wins in similar fashion. However to be fair here like others have said it was a damaged goods Ryder and Ryder was just never that good to begin with. He was getting busted up by an injured Canelo who had a habit of badly fading past round 6 and yet Canelo was still able to make it a war for the last few rounds.

As far as a potential Canelo fight....the only way I could see Munguia winning is if Canelo has slipped too far which shouldn't be the case as he's recovered from the injuries he had as well as not fighting as often. That said I do think Mungia would pressure the hell out of him for the first 4-5 rounds before getting stopped probably by 9/10. Thats assuming current Canelo is better than what he was against GGG3 and Ryder.

100%. The people that hate on a particular fighter for really no reason is something I'll never understand. Especially if the facts are completely counter to their so called argument. The predictions from the US and Brit YV guys last night all had a 9th round stoppage
as their prediction...and that's exactly what happened. Ryder had been thinking about retiring if he lost....that's no way to enter a fight; he was already preparing himself to lose. Munguia did indeed fight in a more constrained and smart manner and he should get props for that strategy.

Nevertheless, I don't see Canelo losing to Munguia; in fact, I see Canelo now picking him as his next (or after another Charlo fiasco) opponent as he would be a lot easier to defeat than Benevidez.

I think Benavidez would wipe the floor with Mungia but it would be entertaining

    I wasn't surprised.

I've followed Munguia's entire career and I knew he was going to destroy Ryder based on their respective styles.

Munguia doesn't have to drain as much anymore so his body has filled out great.

Munguia has also always had superb stamina.

No that was Munguia pretty much in a nutshell, bobbing and weaving, and throwing wild shot after wild shot. His stamina and work rate have always been his best attributes.
