Seriously, do we need super-weight classes in boxing?

    The title says it all
Imagine the fights boxing can create when there are only pure weight classes with no super classes.

Would make it harder for people to create legacies by becoming multi weight champions, no?

Stepping up from middle to light heavy for example....

Usyk weighs 100 kilos and beat Joshua twice and Fury soon.

MULTI weight champions are an overrated myth. Broner is a four-weight champion.

He is but we can still look at the guys he fought for those titles and play them down.

Plus what about all the other multi weight champions?

Nope. In fact I think the weight classes should be the exact same as the amateurs.

    SHW 201+
    HW 200
    LHW 178
    MW 165
    WW 152
    LW 141
    FW 125
    BW 119
    FW
and no weights even below FW

Multi weights titles are nonsense rather fighters stay in the divisions and clean them out over a good few years not just 1 or 2 fights then move on

    Far less confusion IMO

SMW has only existed since the 80's, MW to LHW was being done fairly successfully for decades.

They need to either not name them Super or Junior, and just come up with an entirely new name for each one of those weight classes.
Or simply call them by the numbers.
"He is the 130lb champion. He holds the WBC and the WBO belt at 130."
    Just Like that.
I don't mind the "Supers" that much. But I hate when something is called "Junior" whatever title. That needs to go.

I hear you about weight classes but that 125-141
    And 178 to 200 is a lot….

Between all the weight classes and all the governing bodies there are 44 world champions for the 43 pounds from strawweight at 105 through welterweight at 147. That's more than one champion per pound. It's an embarrassment to the sport.

I'll go one further and I am serious. Put a weight limit on the heavies. 235 pounds max. Just like people don't want to watch small men fighting, I don't care to see giants sumbling around the ring, sucking air after the 5th round. Only throwing 20 punches a round and hugging up on eachother the rest of the time. Hey, if you were dealt a bad card that made you huge and poor, stay away from boxing, take your ass to the NBA.
