First time all the titles have been unified since Lennox Lewis unified them in 1999 ……and the first EVER time all four titles (we’ve never had unified champion in the fourth title era ) have been unified

we will finally have an “undefeated, undisputed, unified, heavyweight champion.”

the longtime heavyweight fans like me, we remember the days of Byrd, Ruiz, Rahman, etc…., all Don King titleholders having the belt scattered all over and them fighting each other to create a unified champion was a mere pipe dream

Then, enter two brothers. BIG and SKILLED brothers…..(now we finally enter a new era. A era where the fighters are not only big, but VERY big AND good ). And after so long of over sized, tall fighters being gangly, awkward, and mediocre at best, it was a breath of fresh air to see the Klitschko brothers, wrap their steel fists and systematically mop up all the Don King bull**** we’d been tolerating for so long

And they ran the division for 10 years, but there were two of them, but two was much better than four….

But now,,,,,,,,, we will finally will have a “unified”, “undefeated”, “undisputed” heavyweight champion

this is an exciting time to be a heavyweight boxing fan

I'm with you. They are two of the biggest names in boxing fighting for the most important crown in the sport. Great stuff.

I am also glad to see number three and number four being clearly resolved…. Joshua and Wilder were making the water pretty muddy, as we had four contenders……. but AJ and wilder were both beaten, more than once, so now we know without question, exactly WHO are the best two…..the last two standing, to fight for this elusive and coveted crown

Meh, fight should have happened in 2022, Spring of 2023 at the latest. It will now have been 18 months where "the two top guys" (both now the wrong side of 35) will have been sitting on the belts fighting lesser competition, i.e., not fighting the top contenders and stagnating the division. Basically, 2022 wants its fight back :icon_domokun:

Are they even the two best at this point? Difficult to say... Zhang (who only has a loss to Hrgovic) is older than both of them and is busy clearing out top contenders whilst he waits on his shot (i.e. the job Champions are expected to do). Hrgovic (undefeated and the only man to beat Zhang) likewise is waiting on his long-overdue shot which should have happened last year.

Next up for the newly crowned Undisputed Champion? The Winner of Joshua v Ngannou... give me strength...:eusa_doh:

We have to be very cognizant of the very distinct possibility that they will rob Usyk. One of the judges did rob him in Saudi against AJ and the desired outcome is Belly vs AJ which would be huge, much bigger than Usyk vs AJ III which shouldn't even be in the discussion.

Many feel that they robbed Ngannou because Usyk vs Belly was the desired outcome and they're also hyping the hell out of this E-Hearn's stable vs Big Frank's stable card and obviously the jewel in the crown of that would be the massive headliner the undisputed HW match up between Belly and AJ

You obviously choose to look for a downside , and I see you even create false negativity (these two are without question the best too heavy weights currently fighting and buy a longshot )

but after waiting 25 years.. for a unified undisputed, undefeated HW champion, I see nothing but positive in this and am getting excited and really pumped up to finally hear the amazing ring of that historic, opening bell

I love the fight still but some of the sheen has gone off it since Ngannou versus Fury... Fury is looking physically poor these days, his legs look gone & his punch resistance is waining too.. the way he talks & the body language he gives off is that of a man who's partially walked away from the sport already .. & he has verbally & mentally regressed almost.. Usyk triggers the fk out of him & that tells me a lot.. I am a fan of both of these Fighters but furys act has worn thin with me lately and for the sake of boxing I'd prefer Usyk to win

Nothing false about what I said. Zhang and Hrgovic are both Olympians, it's starting to get silly that neither of these guys is being given a shot at the title.

These are rough estimates as I can't be bothered calculating off the exact month, but
    D. Tua got his first title shot 8 years after the 1992 Olympics.
    W. Klitschko got his first title shot 8 years after the 1996 Olympics.
    A. Harrison got his first title shot 10 years after the 2000 Olympics.
    A. Povetkin got his first title shot 8 years after the 2004 Olympics.
    D. Wilder got his first title shot 7 years after the 2008 Olympics.
    T. Fury got his first title shot 7 years after the 2008 Olympics he wanted to go to.
    A. Joshua got his first title shot 4 years after the 2012 Olympics.
    O. Usyk got his first CW title shot 4 years after the 2012 Olympics (9 years before his HW title shot having already completed an ATG CW career)
No one from the 2016 Olympics has had a title shot. This year will be 8 and counting.
Zhang competed in the 2008 and 2012 Olympics... Heck even Harison, who wasn't particularly suited to the pro ranks will have gotten a shot way before Zhang.

It kind of looks like "the big 4" of the 2008/2012 Olympics have pulled the ladder up after themselves with the bag in a death grip. Are they the best? They sure don't want us to find out...

Anyway, just my opinion. I won't rain on your parade any further.

To be fair, I still see AJ troubling Fury, and it's a fight I'd like to see.

Yes, but Usyk beating AJ twice showed us very clearly that AJ is not one of the top two

To me, this fight serves a majestic and long overdue purpose of crowning an undisputed King. AJ, even though styles make fights, is clearly not on the level of the two remaining fighters

As I said before, o am glad Wilder and AJ were “given their shot” twice each. And both are clearly not on the level of Usyk and Fury

It’s very clear now, who are the two supreme heavyweights. And the term “undisputed” will be so accurate for the winner of this historic fight

Unfortunately it won’t stay Unified too long I bet. But at least we’ll know the true champion.
