I'm not sure what Dave Boy Green had done to earn a second shot at a world title, but there he was sharing a ring with Leonard. Was this Leonard's best knockout?

For those who want to watch the fight online, here's a link to my Daily Motion channel:

Leonard had a few fights were he showed a viscous streak.
I don't know what Andy Price did to him but Leonard
damn near killed him. He also had Pete Razany's head
bouncing around like a speed ball.
Of course this video of his Ko of Dave Green.

But the skill level Leonard displayed in that four rd
highlight film is amazing . And what is sadly
missing from these "world class" fighters today.
From the way Leonard checked Green's jab with
his right hand, to the multiple levels he moved
his head, never giving Green a set target. His
entire body was used offensively and defensively,
stutter steps, side to side, shifting to different angles
    all on display.
Leonard was always in range to instantly counter
And was technically perfect when he set his feet
    for the ko.
Was this his best ko? Not really , this was kinda
expected, To me personally his best ko was
    Hearns .
Hearns was a challenge only that other "Sugar"
    Ray "would've beaten at welterweight.

That was a perfect knockout win for Ray Leonard. Incidentally Dave Green was a very good fighter. Tough guy with a big punch and good jab. He was just outmatched here but definitely a fine talent

Sensational KO, but for whatever reason when Dave Boy got knocked out he went down like he’d been shot by a sniper. Like instant lights out and fall to the floor.

Take a look at the Palomino KO and it’s similar in how he is out the instant the KO punch landed.

Leonard WAS vicious. A boy-faced assassin in the ring. He throttled the Hitman.

Which elevates Duran's win over him, a bigger and younger man in his prime, in Montreal, to the all-time heights.

If I'm not mistaken, Green seriously trashed talked SRL leading up to the bout, so Ray was motivated to shut his mouth. And he did.

His KO of Donny LeLonde was pretty sharp and certain; he punched like the guy had wronged Ray’s sister. The hangover from the knockdown was probably a factor too

Hi Franklin. Not sure about that. It would have been very out of character if he had. Maybe @mcvey or @Mike Cannon can shed a bit more light.
It seems Ray bumped Davey deliberately on the night to try and rile him. Link here. And sounds like they're good friends now.

Per Leonard, it was just the opposite — he says Dave got in his face and chest-bumped him during referee’s instructions and that motivated him. Alas, the ABC video doesn’t capture what happened.

I picked up a VHS documentary of Leonard a long time ago that was fascinating. It showed Leonard taking a trip to England and while there, he met up with Boy at his house and the 2 of them got along famously. They watched a video of their fight and then they went to Boy's home gym and reenacted the KO with Green hitting the canvas. Also on that trip Ray visited Mo Hope at his house and their respective families had dinner together and discussed whether Ray should continue fighting after his detached retina, which also afflicted Mo. I'll need to watch it again sometime.
