I don't hate any fighter because of their fanbase, but their fanbases themeselves are what ticks me off.

Right now though Devin Haney fans and Devin Haney fan channels like Akhi TV and Dontae's victimization nation are the worst. Devin just beat Kabozo and robbed Loma and suddenly he's the new Floyd or something smh

Tyson Fury's fans are currently my bete noire...

IMHO those fans are suffering of collective cognitive disonance, blinding defending their idol after all the BS and going along with his antics are everything that is wrong with boxing nowadays.

I’ve got to dislike the fighter first & foremost but the whackiest most over the top fan bases I’ve encountered:

First off, anyone that pushes agendas based on fighters backgrounds and in turn, hate fighters based on nationality, skin color etc; they are the worst and it’s something that’s grown more in recent years. They aren’t boxing fans. You never seen them discuss actual boxing.

    But here goes:

    Canelo
    Mayweather
    Pacquaio
    Tyson

That’s the amount Rushmore of insane fanboys.

Then there’s Wilder, Chavez, De La Hoya, Fury, Jones & oddly Jonriel Casimero. That’s an odd cult.

Mayweather's fan base are insufferable and consistently wrong, but at least their argument is logically coherent.

Mayweather's haters seem to be a throwback to the Jack Johnson era.

They dismiss everything that he achieved by calling him a runner.

Well I am sorry, but it is a boxers god given right to use a defensive strategy, if that is their choice.

I agree. Employing defence legally to whatever degree a fighter sees fit may not be crowd pleasing but it is part of boxing and nothing to hate on.

Employing evasive measures outside the ring (read: avoiding a match altogether or unduly delaying it) is another thing again.

It doesn’t make sense to hate a fighter based only on their fan base but I guess it can happen.

For instance, a certain contingent of Tyson fans will persist in making far more excuses on behalf of Tyson than Mike himself ever proffered or repeated ad nauseam.

However, there is a contingent of Tyson Fury fans who present as character extensions of the fighter himself.

They buy into his BS, following his lead and talk the same BS that he does.

Along with Fury, they buy into his rep. being built on TALK, not material performance.

Rather than being severely disappointed, like Usyk fans, they seem to be revelling in the recent postponement - because it allows them a further 3 months to TALK Fury up beyond reason.

They don’t seem to be real boxing fans, since they are far more enamoured with hypothesised superiority, smack talk and abuse (just like Fury) as opposed to wanting to see their man actually getting in the ring and materially proving his worth.

And just like Fury, who’s every word they hang on and faithfully repeat, they continue to place themselves in a world of delusion and hypocrisy.

Actually I dont think Haney has alot of fans.
In his last fight against Prograis for example I heard and read from several outlets that they were giving away tickets outside of Chase Center for free just so they could fill the arena.

On the flip side of the theme of the thread...I would like to mention a fanbase that earned my respect.
This being the base of Ricky Hatton the night he fought Mayweather.
If the fight had been judged on who had more support and louder crowd Hatton would have one.
Sadly for Hatton he still had to fight that night.

I started to say Jake Paul, but I really don’t know anything about his fan base and haven’t ever had any exchanges with any fans he might have.

    But I don’t like him.

Funny thing, Canelo doesn't get a lot of support in Mexico.
Many Mexican boxing fans resist Canelo, they don'tt like his fighting style, his arrogance, his zero risk career management.

What I deeply dislike of this Tyson Fury's nonsense is the whole sthick BS directly copied from the WWE playbook.
The funny name: Tyson Fury, probably chosen with a marketing team and focus group. The "Gimpsy King" nonsense, the whole Braveheart-God of War-Highlander posing with beard included, etc.

However, I don't hate Tyson Fury. Boxing has always been a sport deeply mixed with spectacle, and if Fury gets fame and money playing his sthick, more power to him.

But his fans are the worst.

One of the reasons I used to detest Iron Mike is because of his worshipful fan base. I had to hear how he's the pound for pound ATG (shoot, not even the heavyweight ATG, though he's easily top 10). I still see it here sometimes and it drives me crazy.

That said, overall I became a big fan of 80s Mike Tyson because of this forum (not to mention his seeming personality overhaul due in part to weed).

Yes, I avoid the worshippers still.

Lord, I began to absolutely resent GGG for all the idiotic stuff said on this Forum alone...

"We all know GGG would wipe out prime Hagler! By shutout or brutal KO? That's the question...)

If Fury wasn't such a character, his fans would make me turn on him too.

Actually, Tyson Luke Fury was the name given to him at birth, when he didn’t even have hair...err, well, you know what I mean. :D

Of course it was in honour of Mikey T.

I get ballyhoo but just imo, Fury has taken it beyond the pale too many times - more indicative of a darker side to his character than for the sake of promotion.

He can be downright abusive - and he’s proven that while he’s more than happy to dish it, he can’t take it, even if it’s returned only 1/10th in kind.

Ali indulged in similar **** talk, a lot of which was also more about Ali as a person than his gabbing on only for the mere sake of promotion - but at least Ali walked the walk also. Big difference.

So, it’s a double banger with Fury. His activity level and breadth of competition leaves a lot to be desired.

And, when he’s not fighting (which occurs for protracted periods at a time), he doesn’t simply STFU, still wanting to tell all and sundry what he’s gonna do, but materially, he never gets around to doing ANY of it. Lol.

I swear there’s a certain contingent of his fans who literally prefer hearing him talk smack rather than watching him actually fight.

He’s become somewhat of figment of both his and his more loyal fans imaginations.

Have you heard his latest projection to ward off rumours of retirement?

This is his proposed schedule going forward - Usyk x2, AJ x2 and a rematch with Ngannou.

Fook, many of us would’ve been happy enough just to see him manage to drag his carcass into the ring for Usyk on Feb 17.

So, now this amazing schedule is Fury’s wild projection for the future is obviously in compensation for the delay in him fighting Usyk until May 18.

    All TALK, as usual.

Accepting the cut as an accident, I might now call him Tyson Fluke Ury, because my gut tells me he wasn’t quite ready to rumble come Feb 17.

Conversely, it seems that Usyk definitely was ready, kettle bell tossing ‘n’ all - haha, but yeah, that did look cool. Also, Usyk doesn’t let himself go between fights anyway, as far as I know.

Notably, Fury certainly doesn’t seem duly disappointed, especially for someone who got himself into the supposed best shape of his life.

Why is he persisting uploading himself in mirror image in more recent times.?

We get it. The cut is above the right eye, not the left.

Hilarious. You had us ALL fooled. NOT.

The worst fanbases for me are of the following fighters:

    Vasily Lomachenko
    Floyd Mayweather
    GGG
    Mike Tyson
    Deontay Wilder
    Tyson Fury
    Canelo Alvarez
    Tank Davis
    Manny Pacquaio

Probably missed a few, Devin Haney has some terrible fans. Still not as bad as the ones I’ve listed above.
