Theory: The cut is Fury's pre-made excuse for his inevitable loss to Usyk

Interesting theory, pretty good one even if he is really gonna fight.

 

Team Fury might have mouthed off about Haye cutting himself but that doesn't mean they actually believed it or that it actually happened.

Fury wouldn't go to all this trouble for a pre-made excuse, it's absurd.

My personal theory is that Fury got cut during sparring and the fight had to be delayed until the cut healed enough.

 

Fury up to this point still hasn't addressed the sparring partner who deliberately hit him with the elbow. Has he?

Can you imagine 6ft 9 inch behemoth atg according to himself getting lit up off a middleweight sausage

I thought Fury was to blame. Agron Smakici tried throwing a left hook but it was Fury who had him around the back of the head and tried to pull him down into an uppercut. It changed the distance and trajectory.

I figured that he's a professional, of sorts, and professionals don't get cuts this close to fight time. They spar carefully with fighters who know not to break anything. Faking an injury close to a fight means that he wasn't in shape and was having a bad camp. He needed more time, but the venue was booked, the contract was signed. An injury is the only way to stall at this point.

 

I've never seen so much hand wringing over a cut.

One boxer got cut in training. And they rescheduled the fight for May. Done.

There wasn't a better offer to fight someone else from another promoter. There wasn't a problem with money or ticket sales or the venue. Neither guy was out of shape. Both took training seriously. They are both ripped.

One guy just got cut, and the fight was rescheduled.

Was he supposed to enter the ring next weekend with stitches still in his eye? Of course not.

 

If it was Usyk that got the cut then yes. Double standards.

 

Cuts and injuries happen all the time in training.

I attended a card once where one sparring partner (Carl Davis) knocked TWO guys off the SAME show.

Davis all but basically killed one guy (Guiseppe Kidd) in sparring (the guy needed brain surgery to survive), and he cut Golota, forcing him out of the Saleta fight in Chicago. (Golota was replaced by McCall on a week's notice.) Everyone was wearing headguards.

Boxers get injured in camp.

Usyk had his fight with Carlos Takam called off because Usyk got injured in training. Usyk had the Chisora fight delayed because Oleksandr got injured in training camp again.

The same fans complaining the unification fight was postponed would be the same fans complaining if the fight went ahead, they bought the PPV, Fury entered the ring next weekend with a pre-existing cut and the fight was stopped after two rounds and ruled a No-Contest due to the cut injury.

They'd scream they were cheated. They'd claim the rematch was already set so lets just bilk fans out of a bunch of PPV dollars even though Fury's cut was plain for all to see when he entered the ring.

Some people are just born complainers.

 

Usyk's had five heavyweight fights in recent years ... and he was injured in camp before two of them. One was postponed. The other fight was cancelled entirely and a new opponent found.

The Chisora fight was delayed months because Usyk had injured an elbow in training.

The Takam fight was called off entirely because Usyk suffered a bicep injury in camp.

 

Injuries happen.

 

Right.

 

But St Usyk who fights once per year at best can do no wrong! He's the goat of boxing
