The rules apply to both fighters, not just the favorite to win.

Neither Ortiz or Lopez were had effective aggression.

Ortiz landed two more punches than Lopez according to punch stats, but the better punches were landed by Lopez and he also landed a few more power punches than Ortiz, so there's that if you have to give it to one of them.

Ortiz also missed at a higher rate, 1%, but higher nonetheless?

The fight was very close, I called a draw as soon as it was over. But I can't get mad at 7-5 either way.

Yea, you don´t judge fights via compubox. And you actually score the rounds individually.

I need to actually watch this fight. Fell asleep in round 2 and fast forwarded around before work.

Seemed like a canelo vs Lara type of fight

Exactly. If you scored using compubox Ortiz wins. But you have to consider Ring generalship, effective aggression, clean punches, defense.

That is not how it works. Ortiz was effectively boxing his ears off, so that gives him the advantage over Teo's ineffective aggression. You don't just compare their aggression and favor Teo and give him credit. His aggression was basically irrelevant for most of the fight because he was just sitting air.

Objectively, Lopez had terrible ring generalship, his aggression was consistently through 12 rounds ineffective, most of his punches were blocked or partially blocked, and his defense while decent, wasn't superior to Ortiz's. So by no possible metric can you give Lopez the edge in any of those areas.

Ortiz threw just as many punches as Haney threw vs Loma, and twice as many as Shakur did vs Santos. The idea he was not fighting is just rubbish. Its called boxing.

Personally I saw them fight on equal terms.

They both missed a lot of punches. They both failed to fully engage.

In the Lomachenko fight Ortiz had no issues taking the fight to Loma. In fact in much of the fight he was trying to push him back and even bully him.

Against Teofimo it was a different story, Teofimo's aggression kept Ortiz on the backfoot, and gun shy.

One fighter couldn't cut off the ring, the other fighter fought to survive is the way I look at it.

Thats not the whole story bro. Throwing is one thing, landing is another thing, and what and how the punch lands is even another thing.

Haney not only landed more punches against Lomachenko than Ortiz on Lopez, but Haney's punches were thrown and landed with intention.

Ortiz was just trying to make contact, and run.. had Ortiz outlanded Lopez by 60 punches, which would be an average of 5 more punches per round, perhaps you can make a good argument that despite his punches being weak he dominated... but the case is the punches landed were on par with what Lopez landed.
The quality of punches was completely different.

You don't even understand who the ring general in the fight was. You think it was the guy running forward swinging at air for 12 rounds.

Thrown and landed with more intention? You are literally just imagining scoring criteria and assuming a fighters intent of a punch, Its even funnier considering Haney is feather fisted himself.

It was clear as day that against Lomachenko, Ortiz was throwing with intentions, and against Teofimo he put nothing behind his punches.

The rest of us did not, because the only one consistently landing was Ortiz. Sure, you can look to Compubox, but they're notoriously inaccurate. Many of the guys on here have a sharper eye than they do when it comes to what's landing clean. So when almost everyone is calling bull**** on them, it's usually bull****.

Sure, but then you have to watch the fight very closely and make a judgment call on who's landing at a more consistent clip. Our collective eyes didn't deceive us, that would be Ortiz.

The Loma fight has nothing to do with this one. So any comparison is irrelevant.

De Los Santos' aggression kept Shakur on the back foot, paralyzed in terror and gun-shy. Did they fight on equal terms?

One fighter couldn't cut off the ring, the other fighter took advantage of that and kept evading his punches while moving laterally, and landing his own.

Ortiz didn't engage and didn't get the belt...I'm not sure what everyone's problem is?
The fight stunk and there was no real winners and I'd be amazed if ortiz gets another chance after that display, who's gonna pay to watch him again

I'd be interested to know what Lopez and Ortiz' in ring weight was.. I bet they were in excess of 160.. which means in a week or so they'll probably be walking around at over 170.. these guys are meant to be LWs & LWWs..
