How is Benavidez chasing smaller guys by fighting guys in his own division? He is not dragging up smaller fighters.

It’s funny everybody is mad at Canelo for not fighting way beyond his natural weight. Nobody gets this mad at Inoue for not fighting Tank Davis.

I never really hated on Golovkin, I was just really good at exposing his demented fan base.

And? Who remembers when Golovkin refused to fight Saunders, Ward, Lara, Trout, Charlo, and Derevyanchenko, while simultaneously crying that no one wanted to fight him

Calm down, go easy on the placeholder insults, and maybe you can focus on the point better. The fact that some fighters were shot before the age of 30 isn't relevant, and those are outliers anyway. Typically, early 30s is prime for plenty of - if not most - boxers out there. Canelo is a bit past prime, sure, but undisputed champion, and that should come with certain responsibilities like fighting the very best in his weight class. He hasn't done that in a good long while, and that was Caleb Plant 5 years ago, and let's be honest: the likes of Benavidez and Munguia are a much bigger threat than Smith, BJS, and Plant were when he got the belts off them.

If he's not up for fighting the best, stop hogging the belts then by all means continue beating on smaller guys - follow the paydays rather than the legacy. The whole belt stuff in boxing is enough of a farce as it is, don't make it any worse.

If I was any more calm I'd be dead. That's how we talk around here buddy, the internet is not a nice place.

Anyway, most people will agree that Canelo is past his best at 33.

With that said he hasn't done anything against the rules yet. He has one year to agree to a fight with the mandatory. Benavidez became the mandatory last March. After March he can vacate, or be stripped if he refuses to agree to a fight with Benavidez. So hold your horses son, you have a few more weeks before we know what his next move is. Personally I think he will vacate, fight Munguia is September, and then renegotiate with PBC for a Benavidez fight in 2025, May or September.

Now let's take a look at Canelo's time line.

2018 he fights and beats MW P4P champion Golovkin.

Just hree months after beating Golovkin he moves up in weight to test the waters at 168 against top contender Rocky Fielding.

2019 he moves back down to MW to unify against IBF champion Jacobs.

2019 he jumps two divisions to fight past his prime but still credible LHW Champion Kovalev.

2020 he moves back down to SMW and fights highly regarded SMW champion Smith for WBA and WBC titles.

Three months later he gets his mandatory our of the way in order to be able to attempt to unify all four titles.

Three months later still 2021 he TKO Saunders by breaking his face.

Later that same year he fights and KO Plant and makes history by unifying all four SMW titles, becoming the first Mexican to unify the four titles.

Six months later in 2022 he moves up again to LHW and fights top LHW fighters and reigning champion Bivol and falls short.

Four months later in 09/2022 he gives Golovkin the rubber match after much pleading and demand from disgruntled Golovkin fans...and he beats again.

He then gets surgery and recovers until 2023, and signs to fight highly regarded SMW contender John Ryder who many if not most here felt he beat Smith.

After that fight most here, including many boxing aficionados and Ryder himself stated that Canelo was on the decline.

Canelo signs a three fight deal with PBC.

Four months after Ryder he fights his first of three with PBC against Jermell in what is obvious a money grab by Canell and PBC to create a story that would lead to a fight with Big bro Jermall.

And this is where we're at now.

Now you tell me, what world P4P champion has done more than Canelo? If anyone deserves an easy year it's Canelo.

And to remind you again, Benavidez became mandatory March 2023, so according to WBC rules, Canelo has until March 2024 to agree to a fight with Benavidez, Vacate, get Stripped, and maybe possibly ask Benavidez if he's willing to take step aside money to get Munguia out of the way.

What Benavidez should so with his shallow ass resume is fight Munguia in May or September, and winner gets Canelo.

Ok tough guy. Generally I find that phrases like 'YDKSAB' come from people who lack the faculties to have a proper discussion, usually due to nuthugging or hating or a given boxer. If you love Canelo to the point that you can't even see the case that his resumé of recent years kinda sucks, then I can't help ya.

Anyway, not sure why you've just listed everything Canelo's done since 2018. I'm aware of it all, and doesn't really affect or negate my point (much like the previous thing you said). Canelo's resumé since becoming undisputed has been thoroughly unimpressive, and listing his fights or pointing out that he's 'paid his dues' doesn't convince me otherwise.

Think I'll leave it at that. Feel free to have the final word that I suspect you're itching to have.

Of course I'll have the final word because I'm speaking from logic while you're speaking from emotion.

I'll prove it. I just went through your post history, and you show your bias because you're not this invested in any other fighter doing less even in their prime, but for some reason Canelo, even at the twilight of his career, even after doing more, and fighting more frequently than most P4P fighters, you're fixated on singling him out.

My point is to show the haters their inconsistencies.

I'll give you another example by asking you a question. What was Benavidez doing while Canelo was cleaning out a division?

    Benavidez: 6' 2''
    Canelo: 5' 7''

    -----
    Opetaia: 6' 2''
    Zurdo: 6' 2''
    Smith Jr: 6'
    Usyk: 6' 3''
    Kabayel: 6' 3''
    Takam: 6' 2''
    Gassiev: 6' 3''
    Smith Jr: 6'

We see that Benavidez's natural division should be cruiserweight, if not heavyweight.

The 5'7 guy has been a SM for 6 years and has all the belts. That is not the same as Canelo chasing 147, 154 and 160 pounders.

GGG stayed in a dead division for too long. He never really challenged himself. I don't get how anyone who is a fan of him can be so hard on Canelo. There was a time when he could have fought Ward, but he had zero interest in that. No one could have enhanced his legacy as much as Ward. You ask when should it have happened? I don't remember a specific year, but there absolutely was a time when the talk was about Ward moving down or GGG moving up and it just never materialized. We all know moving down is not the norm, you move up, period.

Why did Canelo fight Bivol if he's the cash cow? He didn't have to. But he did.

Most fighters move up because they can't make weight. You guys think guys move up to chellenge themselves is a joke.

And WHEN could he have fought Ward? The timing was never really there. Just like when Ward returned from a two year lay off as a LtHW.
