It's amazing how many issues these guys can have but I guess they are no different than anybody else in that respect. It's amazing he had the success he did considering all of that which you enumerated.
Wasn't there talk about him going down to Cruiserweight at one point? And now they have the Bridger weight division which I think is kind of silly but you never know
A newfangled niche belt, i.e., Bridgerweight...? Who knows. One of the 4 legit overall heavyweight belts...? Um, no.......
I doubt it. And he's been a lot of fun in the heavyweight division for many years. With respect to Wilder, his level of competition - Fury aside - hasn't been great. So I can't really see how he could suddenly throw off the shackles now (at 38 and after a long career) to suddenly start taking down other tough contenders. I mean it's not impossible. One decent win, for example, could get him back in the mix. But it all seems like too high risk-reward for me. Let him enjoy his retirement (which I think is his best option).
No. Possible for him to opportunist his way to a belt. But he's probably no longer positioned to duck top tier opposition, and hang around champion status by default.
Definitely, when the belts get redistributed, he will be in line to pick one up. Can he beat Usyk or Fury to win a belt though? Not in my opinion
50 year old Holyfield was WBF champion. There's enough belts out there for everyone to be a champ. Even Eubank jr was a "world champion".
I don't think he will but won't write it off given how many belts they are. I'm open to the idea of the Parker fight being a fluke but even if it is I believe the HW division is about to start turning the page on this era. I'm more bullish on the idea of him having a Holmesian streak in his early 40s than I am on him actually winning something.
