Lamont Peterson. But what I learnt through time is that so many American Fighters just like the Brits are overrated hype jobs. Way, way, way, waaaaaaaaaay too many Americans and English get touted as the next big thing but in reality they're just like a Balloon. Full of air then they go pop and disappear.
And tbh, it's the same with Australia. Our media are a bunch of ****ing overhyped, hype jobs themselves. One dickhead wins one or two fights and they rave on about him like he's the next big thing. The media are full of ****. Ben Damon, Andy Rammond, Aussie nut huggers.
I thought Fernando Vargas would go on to be an ATG. He was obviously very good but never quite made it to greatness.
He was rushed against Tito. Had he waited a few more years I think he would have been able to beat Trinidad.
Yep Vargas was caught juicing and still got his ass beat by Oscar. The dirty test should really call his whole career into question. Even at the end he thought that Mayorga had taken some beatings and thought he could get an easy win and still Mayorga kicked his ass.
Anthony Mundine I thought that after destroying Soliman in the rematch that he would go on to fight the other top dogs at 168 but instead his career was poorly managed. Going down in weight was never a good idea however beating undefeated Daniel Geale in 2009 was impressive but again after that he didn't capitalize on it he just wasted time on the domestic scene and lost in a shocking upset to Garth Wood.
Also another one off top of my head was Silver medalist Ricardo Williams. Was also shocked when Pollo Valenzuela upset him.
I thought paul Williams would be the new hearns. Had high hopes for pirog but he had to retire quickly. Also thought ismail silakh would be a hof boxer but atleast a champion. Thought Lemioux and Bute would be way better.
