Or making a calculated bet that it brings in a certain number of new subs (or retains / reactivates some others). The fairly punitive terms of a new sub greatly increase the value involved - presumably if a good few Scots sign up to see Taylor and end up spending way more than PPV money then it might be job done. 50k signups because of this grosses £2m pretty quickly.
Fights on DAZN UK are out of sight, out of mind to the public. Will be very impressed if DAZN UK can increase the subscription numbers from 300 to 350-360 for a fight involving Boring Jack Catterall.
I'm no fan of Boxercise but I think Wilder 1 was a great Fury performance. Joe McNally I'm still not sold on. Like Davison, he's had the luck of receiving fighters who are already the finished article or already good fighters before they had anything to do with him.
God knows how they're doing it. I rolled my eyes when people first said it was a money-laundering operation.. doesn't seem quite so ridiculous now.
Yep but you had Nelson and Bellew trying their best to excuse it. If Josh Taylor was with Boxxer or it was back in the Sky/Matchroom days they’d have toned it down x100. Froch the only one with any bollocks to say it how it is. This content is protected
because lo and behold people care more about this robbery than you do... lol i see excuses from Taylor fan boys are out already, very funny
Agree on McNally. Liam Smith and Taylor were both spent after 3 rounds in their last fight. Fighters might like it up there as they get an easy ride.
Looking forward to this, despite it oddly being made at light-welter. Wonder what became of the ordered alphabet belt eliminator between Jack and Rich Hitchins, a real crowd pleasing fight!
Catterall turned it down. Taylor insisted on 140 as he didn’t feel he’d get credit for dragging Catterall to a higher weight. Really hope Taylor sticks it on that utter nob Sam Jones at the presser on Monday. Just saw a snippet of him saying he’s responsible for making the fight and it’s down to him that the fighters have got the money they have. Tosser.
Buzzing that this has finally been ****ing made. Taylor had an awful camp for the first fight (if anyone watched the BBC documentary, they'll know exactly what I mean) and I think he thought it was going to be a relatively straight forward nights work / homecoming party...... which completely back fired. The run that Josh Taylor went on to become undisputed champion was excellent, I think he's a fantastic fighter and actually doesn't get anywhere near the credit he deserves.... but he was very fortunate that night and he was also off the boil in the Lopez fight. The Josh Taylor of Ramirez and prior, comfortably beats both Jack Catterall and Teofimo Lopez in my eyes. Which begs the question... can he perform at 140 anymore ? He said he felt absolutely great in camp prior to Teo but then after 4 rounds of the fight, he felt like his legs just didn't have anything there. Clearly the weight is now an issue. I think he's bonkers agreeing to this rematch at 140 given how his performances have dipped in his last 2 fights. Hope Taylor can right this wrong but the fact that its at 140 worries me.
Good points mate. He suffered the plantar fascia injury at the end of January and fought Lopez just over 4 months later. Nowhere near enough recovery time. I think the fact his legs went is because he barely did any roadwork in the build up to that fight as his foot didn’t properly heal for a long while. The fact Taylor demanded 140 gives me hope he knows something we don’t in regards to his preparation for his last 2 fights. I’ve seen the documentary and where he was wrapped in hot towels desperately trying to get the last few pounds off. A fit and healthy Josh Taylor wins this for me. Come on Josh!!
