Some individuals with a kickboxing background, like Vitaly Klitschko, have accomplished significant feats in the realm of boxing.
There was no Ngannou in previous eras, so you can't say that this proves the current heavyweights are overrated. Nobody expected Ngannou to do good against the current heavyweights either. Ngannou was a much better boxer than expected, composed, durable, has an insanely long reach, huge and of course very powerful. Bad style matchup for current Fury. But one thing people aren't noticing is how fast Ngannou's counters are, his reflexes are miles better than most heavyweights. Any time Fury even thought about throwing a 1-2, Ngannou had a counter left hook ready for him. That is actually his most dangerous attribute in my opinion and that's what AJ should be most concerned about.
That's not what I did really. AJ is the boxing champion and too much credit is given to the MMA fighter as if they are Marvel superheroes. Francis will be KO'd no matter that he "has taken kicks" or that he "is used to grappling" same as Connor got stopped by Mayweather
He isn't, its all marketing. UFC middleweight Joe Pyfer recorded a harder punch on the same type of punchymabob measuring thingy. It's not been made a big deal of because it doesn't sell fights in boxing.
Boxers aren't as good as they used to be. How can they be when they don't train year round and only fight 1-2 times a year?
The kicks Ngannou has taken are often glancing or not full on the chin. If you watch his fights you'll see he's taken anything with the kind of power AJ is likely to deliver on the button. I'm of the opinion AJ might carry him a little while to give the Saudis value for money and stop him mid to late but if Ngannou comes for a fight or even hints he might be troublesome then AJ will put it on him and stop him earlier.
Yep, AJ ain't taking any risks with this. I suspect he takes a look for a couple of rounds and then gets Ngannou out of there quickly and brutally. Why risk his legacy and upcoming pay days by prolonging a circus act?
That's a good point aswell. I mentioned AJ might give the Saudis a bit of value for money but with that comes risks. You might ge right, he might just do a demolition job on him.
What happened? Fury got dropped (Cunningham also dropped him) and Fury proceeded to win the majority of the rounds and even being fat and out of shape out jabbed the specimen that is Francis Ngannou. When you have that extra level of skill you can do things like that.
