Just read on the BBC’s boxing page, where they seem to think women’s boxing is more important than men’s, that Taylor Cameron 3 isn’t going to be at Croke Park. I completely understand this as I’m sure the stadium is expensive to hire and there’s a lot of seats to fill. What seems strange to me is Hearn saying that the fight has to go on when there’s an available tv date. Correct me if I’m wrong but surely DAZN can make any date available particularly outside the ‘ Riyadh Season ‘ . It’s not like DAZN has a wealth of top class content and it’s a struggle to fit in a slot. It’s the same with Nexgen, youre not at Sky anymore, stop pretending that you are.

Taylor's first fight in Dublin would have been at Croke Park if Hearn could fill it but he knows that the crowd would be 15,000 maximum with a hard sell to the public at that.

DAZN UK has at least 2 free Fridays and Saturdays per month that could be increased to 4 per month if he gets rid of his poor cards including those called nextgen.

Hearn's lies, spin and deceit over the years is now coming home to roost and will be reflected in the DAZN UK numbers where Hearn is having to spin hourly webs to retain the current 300 subscribers.

DAZN UK is the dodo of boxing and Matchroom is heading the same way unless he eats Anthony Joshua Pie and makes up with Sky.

The dates are being held not just for Matchroom but also GBP and the venue.

for instance let’s say Croke park is a no go so they go back to 3 arena. Let’s say they realise Croke won’t happen. They look at alternative arenas. They go back to DAZN for dates that will work with it in mind they are holding April 20th for Haney vs Garcia,
27th is the proposed date for Taylor vs catterall. Matchroom have shows 6th and 13th and they then go back to DAZN for May for instance and they say May is free but we don’t want it on May 17th due to Fury vs Usyk and ideally we don’t want it the week before or too close to Taylor vs Catterall so it’s not lost marketing. So they look at weekend or two after Fury vs Usyk to see if they can get a venue for those dates which is a limited type of venue like 3 arena and date works for DAZN to keep subs post the Fury vs Usyk PPV and prior to Bivol vs Beterbiev.

Meanwhile you have managers and fighters saying they can’t do X date, they won’t fight in X arena and won’t do it for X money when for instance said venue only allows them to generate X on the gate. It’s really not easy.

Surely the real reason they're not fighting at Croke Park is because it costs a fortune to rent out and it would be a quarter full.

    I agree 100% with Trafford.

I can't count all the headaches I had trying to make both camps happy and at the same time please the TV station we worked with. It's f...... hard and I don't miss it. Today I have a more withdrawn role and I enjoy that.

The idea that Taylor is some huge stadium fighter is just absurd spin from Hearn. She's nowhere near that level, not even in Ireland, hence why she fights at the 3Arena in front of about 1/10 of what a full Croke Park would hold.

Plus it's not like Croke Park is the only stadium or big arena in Dublin. There's the Aviva Stadium which holds about half of Croke Park, but she wouldn't come anywhere near to selling that out either.

    I totally agree.

This is - once again - a lie from Eddie Hearn. Croke Park will not be sold out, but it sounds good to mention it.

I’ve honestly never watched more than 5 rounds of women’s boxing, it’s awful. To think people actually pay to watch this.

I think this is probably closer to the truth. Hearn and Smith always mention that economics have to make sense, and they went public before about the price of renting Croke.

One small thing - not necessarily aimed at you, but just the general tone of many posters who seem to equate empty seats as failure.

What if, for example, Taylor did end up boxing at Croke, and they sold "only" 30,000 tickets, perhaps selling only floor seats and lower tier? This would still be a huge attendance for women's boxing in Ireland. People like "Curt P" on Twitter would have a wet dream posting screenshots of seat maps from Ticketmaster, while overlooking the fact that 30,000 is more than 3x bigger than 9,000.

FWIW I actually think it would sell quite a lot more than that - but also agree it would struggle to fill Croke. As a layman, the Aviva seems a much more sensible venue with an achievable capacity.

To be honest I don't know what this phrase means. Who lives in anyone's head ? Why would they pay rent ?

The Matchroom Employee 'Plaistow' must be seething with the relentless decline in Matchroom FC in the UK.

It was good of Frank to throw him a bone for the Saudi Loot or he would be completely off the UK public radar.

it means that Eddie Hearn has firmly set up shop in Beale’s cranium, feet up on the couch, ordering takeaways, forcing him to bring up his name in tangentially related topics all week every week

Wasn’t a dig at her mate. I like Katie & her story and think she’s a real inspiration and pioneer of the sport. Even if they ‘only’ did 20k it’s still incredible numbers but Croke Park holds over 80k and that’s the main reason they won’t go there. You wouldn’t hire out Wembley for a fight that would do 30k tickets.
