So you think PBC never talked to the fighters and there was no co ordination and Benavidez is moving up all by himself without talking to Haymon?
I don't think you're getting it. As a fan, I want to see Canelo vs Benavidez this year. This is bad news because if Benavidez is moving up, then the fight is not gonna happen. Do you not realize that by praising Benavidez moving up, you're basically praising him from running away from the Canelo fight. I'm saying, no, stay at 168, make this fight happen in May or September. If he fights at 175 in June, he's not going to be able to fight Canelo in September. And if he somehow did, then fans will start making excuses about how Benavidez had a short camp, is weight drained because he's coming down from 175. I don't want any excuse. I don't want any BS. I want these two to get it on, to give the fans the fight we wanna see. I don't want to see Benavidez running away to 175 when the fight can be made.
Benavidez is running away from Canelo now? FMD. What is he supposed to do? Wait around until Canelo beats all of the seven dwarves?
That's inconsistent with what the WBC said. https://www.marca.com/en/boxing/2024/02/18/65d26b2922601d2e408b45cc.html Mauricio Sulaiman, the president of the World Boxing Council (WBC), has made it clear that Canelo Alvarez, the world super middleweight champion, must face David Benavidez in 2024. This fight, which has been in the works for several months, is a mandatory bout that Canelo must fulfil, otherwise he would be forced to relinquish his title. Sulaiman emphasized that Benavidez will confirm his mandatory status, which would oblige Canelo to put his 168-pound championship belt on the line. "It is very likely that Benavidez will confirm his mandatory status," Sulaiman told Boxing Social. "Canelo wants to fight in May, and they are in the same company. They must already be talking, they've already negotiated, we're letting them negotiate, and we'll see what happens by May, and then the WBC can step in." So according to this, it means that Benavidez must confirm his mandatory status, which would oblige Canelo to put his 168-pound championship belt on the line. If Benavidez is choosing to move up to 175, then he presumably has not confirmed his mandatory status, and is choosing to avoid fighting Canelo. Not the other way around.
Wow Benavidez actually fighting someone his size?! I bet Benavidez will still be bigger than Gvodzyk in the ring. Gvodzyk the better boxer, no doubt, but I’m not sure the state of Gvodzyk since Beterbiev.
Let's take a look at some facts and use some logic. 8/2020: Benavidez fails to make weight coming in at 171. Loses WBC title on the scales. 12/2020: Canelo moves up to fight and beats Smith and wins vacant WBC and Smith's WBA title. 05/2021: Canelo fights Saunders for his WBO title. 11/2021 Canelo unifies and becomes undisputed SMW champion 05/2022 Canelo moves up to fight reigning unified LWH Bivol 09/2022 Canelo-GGG 3 in mega fight 03/2023 Benavidez fights and beats Plant in eliminator and becomes mandatory for Canelo's WBC title, giving Canelo until MARCH 2024, to agree to a fight with Benavidez 05/2023 Canelo fulfills WBO mandatory against Ryder 09/2023 Canelo has first of three fight deal with PBC in an much deserved easy gimme money fight. 11/2023 Benavidez beats Andrade 02/2023 Benavidez announces he's moving up to LHW How is it a duck? Canelo was either going to accept a fight with Benavidez in March or be stripped. It's not March.
I dont know why its so hard to understand? Benavidez is the interim Champion since May 2022. He defended it twice against Plant and Andrade, which made him the consensus Number 1 contender at 168. But what changed? Nothing. Canelo didnt face the interim champion in the last 2 years, and even NOW Canelo considers a Munguia fight instead of a Benavidez fight. If Canelo doesnt fight Benavidez in September 2024, then he is ducking him without a doubt.
Ah... those trusty and reliable old sparring stories. Was this Benavidez finishing a camp while Gvozdyk was starting his? Was this Gvozdyk coming back to the gym after a few years off? Was Gvozdyk just blowing smoke up his ass because he likes him? Need a few more details before carelessly buying into any of this bull****.
What you're missing is that Canelo will be forced to fight him this year, even if he doesn't want it, as long as Benavidez forces it. By Benavidez moving up to 175 instead, that means he isn't forcing his mandatory status, and he's choosing to move up to 175 rather than challenging Canelo. You're acting like this is Canelo's choice. It's not, it's Benavidez's choice as the mandatory challenger. If he moves to 175 then he's choosing to avoid the Canelo fight.
Canelo has shown no interest so far in fighting Benavidez and has now ran out of time. Fair play to Benavidez not wasting his career any more. If he can compete at LHW and become a champion there in a tougher division he should do that. Waiting around at SMW hasn't gotten him the fight he wanted.
You're aware that your posting this in a thread about Benavidez fighting at 175 in JUNE, and it says sk in the title.
You are dealing with a fanboy, the best thing you can do is save your time and put them on ignore. You won’t get anywhere with this one, he simply doesn’t care about the facts and will label anyone who critiques Canelo as a hater.
