It's hard to say how much Gvozdyk has left at the elite level now. He's a super talent with superb boxing ability and skills and he can punch with both hands and he has a good chin too. But the only guy with a pulse he's fought in 4.3 years is Botviniks. That was a good win but from the footage I've seen of Gvozdyk's comeback fights something looks off with him. I can't put my finger on it off the top of my head but his legs don't look right and his defence is not as tight. I'll have to have another look to make a proper assessment
He definitely doesn't look the same as he did in his prime though.

Benavidez said he beat Gvozdyk up when they sparred and he also said he has no power which I find very strange because he can crack with both hands.

You can't blame Benavidez for moving up because Clenelo has shown zero desire to face him and Benavidez has been screwed around for years waiting for that fight and Clenelo has given him zero reason to have faith he'll ever fight him.

Have to remember Benavidez said he pieces up Bivol in sparring, something which I highly doubt. Still I think this is the right move considering Canelo doesn’t seem interested in fighting him.

True but Gvozdyk admitted he got the better of him too. But we don't know how much Benavidez who is huge weighed at the time and if he said Gvozdyk has no power which he clearly does and that Bivol is a very hard puncher and is the second hardest puncher he's shared a ring with maybe there was something wrong with Gvozdyk that day.

Why not? He's done it before and is clearly ducking Benny in my eyes.
Why does he not make that fight in May? If he did then Benny wouldn't be taking the Gvozdyk fight.

Bruh, the nail is shot. Benavidez is going to tear him a new *******. Not a bad fight at 175 but still, where the Canelo fight at?

ROFLIf he did grow a set & fight it wouldn't add to Gingers legacy because he's afraid Benavidez would do a Bivol type job on him. It would prove he's not the King of Boxing after all LOL

    Unfinished business and Canelo.
He won the belt and immediately lost it due to bad decisions. He then again reclaimed it only to loose it.
And now not only was he aiming to take back the belt to get his career back on track, he now had the opportunity for a mega fight with Canelo.

But it seems like he isn´t willing to wait around in uncertainty. This is an amazing opportunity because the winner of Beterbiev vs Biovl will probably keep their unified belts.

    Lmao this is shadow esque

I bet the 175lber Kovalev really felt those bone crushing punches from a guy coming up two weight classes from 160lbs. Bet he really felt all of that power from someone who hadn’t knocked anyone out at 160lbs or anyone decent level at 154lbs

Canelo has never been a KO artist stop fooling yourself.

His best KO was far smaller Khan who was a 140lber!

He launched an uppercut from his knees into mediocre Billy Joes eye as Billy was leaning into the punch..and still Billy’s feet weren’t wobbly and he finished the round (on the other hand I don’t know what they’re putting in Canelos gloves to cause such reddening of the eye..dodgy mfer).

Kovalev was a blatant get punched and drop dive.

Plant was pitty pattying all night , blatant fix. If this was somehow real, he went down from exhaustion not from getting sparked out as well.

Rocky fielding went down about 3 or 4 times from Canelos iNsANe body shots. Each time he was smiling..real painful

Canelo is not a big puncher, he’s just flashy and fast which gives the illusion that he hits hard.

He's been interim champion for two years and it's mad no difference. He either waits around forever hoping Canelo gives him a shot, or before mes mandatory at LHW hoping the winner of Beterbiev v Bivol gives him a shot.

Canelo has lost his chance at the fight now in all likelihood.

    Duck confirmed.

This story is all over the place now Reynoso says no offer has even been made to them to fight Benavidez.....something doesn't smell right.

That just means they're not fighting in May, the earliest this fight will happen will be in September.

Well gives me the feeling everyone arguing about this fight have no clue what's actually going on. I'm getting the feeling Haymon isn't putting him in position yet

Why not? It was one of the best title fights of that year.
