It sounds like PBC rejected Canelo's "I fight Jermall Charlo or I don't fight at all" ultimatum. Good for them.

Someone pulled a con, but it wasn't PBC. As I said before, Canelo signed his PBC deal under the false notion that he would eventually fight their top guy at 168. Canelo failed to hold up his end. Not only is he rejecting Benavidez, but he is now also rejecting Munguia.

Dude just doesn't want to accept any sort of challenges anymore. He has become an embarassment and an albatross for the sport.

...Maybe DAZN will fund his little retirement tour now and give him Jermall Charlo and Terence Crawford.

Canelo has been running a charade on everyone since the Bivol fight, people are finally starting to catch on. He gave up being a serious fighter a long time ago. Now he's just an attraction. Of course the narrative will be PBC somehow couldn't afford to stage the biggest sport in boxing..lol

Well that right there is the problem isn't it. We don't want Canelo to duck Benavidez again by vacating his belt the way he did with Golovkin.

We want Canelo to defend his 4 belts against Benavidez.

Benavidez is now more likely to get a unified title shot up at LHW, he's tried at SMW and has been denied, hopefully he gets a chance to prove himself at championship level Vs Bivol/Beterbiev.

And if he does successfully gain undisputed status at LHW he will be in a position to choose if he defends Vs Canelo or not, he can probably demand an even purse and will be much more likely to win.

Well if Benavidez wants the fight, as a mandatory all he's gotta do is stay at 168 and he'll get it soon enough. By him announcing he's moving up to 175 to campaign there, that's the opposite of what we'd expect him to do given his apparent desire to want the fight.

Too early to say that. We might still miss out on Usyk-Fury but get this one.

He can only hold out for so long. He's been the next best in the division for years, he's been interim champion for 2 years. Canelo doesn't seem interested at all.

If he beats Gvozdyk he'll almost certainly get a chance at Bivol or Beterbiev whoever wins so this is the right thing for him to do.

He may not want Munguia anymore after seeing him against Ryder.

    Agreed
But Benevidez Sr is dubious in the interview with The Boxing voice.
I do believe they wanted the fight
Early while David could still make the weight.
Probably doesn’t want to make the biggest fight of his career compromised at 168lbs .

if he beats Bivol & Beterbiev he will still be the man. $ do what canelo couldn’t.

besides there is an outside shot they can’t still get “Dee PeyDey” later once David garners more attention from the casuals.

canelo might fight him at Catchweight of 170lbs
    For ARAB Money

Pretty sure Canelo has 'done enough'. But it is a pretty lame duck none the less

Shadow making the case that Canelo's legacy rests on robbing old man Golovkin twice.

GGG could not deal with Canelo, he had 3 opportunities and failed each time. You call them a robbery because you simply can't deal with what happened. Not my problem, I'm not the one crying about decisions like you.
