It would be the best thing for boxing. Davis has spent a career of grabbing low hanging fruit, not interested in unifying or cleaning out the division. Boxing deserves a champion who will knock on the door to anyone making noise, instead of knocking on the door to fighters no one genuinely asked to see fight Davis. I don't hate Gervonta but his last 15 opponents just don't convince me he deserves the purses he gets. I think he's a beneficiary of the Floydmania and filled in for Floyd's business model when Floyd retired.
Whichever advisor informed him it would be in his best interests to turn down the Shakur fight for a $1m, I hope he's indemnified ...
No guarantee Martin will be any better, he's a Haymon fighter too so his career trajectory will likely be equally uninspiring. He turned down $1 mill to fight Shakur to fight Tank for $200K, so the chances of him facing any of the other top lightweights who are not signed with PBC is very unlikely.
It takes a world class idiot to turn down a million dollar purse. I'm assuming Martin is not already independently wealthy. The definition of fumbled the bag.
Frank's a live dog in this fight! I think Tank will win but I won't be shocked if Martin pulls off the upset
I think Frank's got the overall skill set to really trouble Tank and give him his most competitive fight since Pitbull Cruz. The only thing that prevents me from picking Ghost is that he's been bothered by body shots and Tank is quite good at targeting the body. Might make Martin hesitant to throw or to accelerate in the later rounds when Tank typically asserts himself.
