Did you? Because all evidence indicates that Munguia is on the short list for Canelo. Maybe you have some other information, but I have not seen Munguia/Benavidez mentioned anywhere except under your screen name.
I just saw his latest interview in Un Round Mas. He said he's ready for Benavidez, Canelo, and any top fighter. Why didn't Benavidez fight any top SMWs while he was there? It wasn't until after Plant gets KTFO by Canelo that he fights him.
Yes, but he is on the short list for Canelo. He'd fight Benavidez before Canelo why, exactly? Who were the top SMWs that Benavidez should've fought?
He should be guaranteed of the fight this year if the WBC enforces the mandatory. I agree though that he has been waiting for some time. However we need to remember that David would have had the fight if he didn't lose his title on the scales in 2020. So he does bear some responsibility for the fight not happening, by being undisciplined when he was Champion, losing it in the process, which caused him to have to get back into contention while Canelo was taking on all the Champions one by one en route to being Undisputed. It's frustrating that the fight isn't being made, especially with Canelo signing the 3 fight deal with PBC. I'm disappointed in all involved.
He just got on the list after PBC royally ****ed up. Benavidez was doing what most fighters around Canelo were doing, sucking their thumbs hoping to win the Canelo sweepstakes, when they should have been fighting each other.
"Sucking his thumb" while becoming interim champ two years ago, then Canelo's mandatory... after already being champ 2x. Maybe YOU might be sucking on something...
Not a fan of either. Benavidez shows me nothing though that tells me he can beat Canelo. He has good power but also has terrible footwork. Frankly Canelo does everything better
When you ask them who Fielding, Plant, etc beat, you never get a reply. If you do, it’s along the lines of, “he had the belts”.
Yeah, when I look at him, I see so many flaws in him technically that Canelo or any truly elite fighter will exploit. His footwork as you say being the most obvious. If he's to be able to compete he's going to have to have those qualities that are only revealed when truly tested, namely a granite chin and a truly unbreakable will to win. Carl Froch, technically he wasn't elite or even close but he could close the gap by simply taking whatever he had too and keep coming and never ever quitting and breaking more skilled fighters down and eventually getting them out of there. Benavidez will need those same attributes if he's to bridge the gap in skills to even compete with Canelo.
I asked because I don't really think we need evidence for something THAT obvious, too much money and too many plans at stake to think you can just walk away from something that big with no negotiating. Losing the biggest name on your roster with fresh ink on an amazon deal isnt preferable. The conversation is fun but time to be realistic. I'm sure you're of the feeling that this fight just has to happen because it's the "biggest fight in boxing" right? Well the biggest fighter should command the biggest payday he's able to get as well if it's the mega fight this board makes it out to be. I couldn't really tell you what's realistic for Canelo to ask for. All I know is all the revenue for the potential fight comes from Canelo, So he literally should get what he wants. And I'm of the belief that the is absolutely not a mega fight, just a good one, and Benavidez supporters/Canelo haters are overhyping it.
PBC’s current condition is non-fights, inactivity, insolvency, fighter’s and executives jumping ship. Boxing fans: “Yea, I can believe Canelo was offered 35mil for Charlo and 55mil for Benavidez.”
Just because Canelo is technically better doesn't mean it's an easy fight for him. And I don't even know if I agree with that. Canelo has issues, namely being flat-footed and low volume. You don't think those are technical issues or holes in Canelo's game? Benavidez can just as easily exploit that as Canelo can exploit Benavidez for maybe being a little too open defensively.
