Is Bowe vs Holyfield 1 really that good of a fight?

This will be my last thread today, but I've been watching a lot of fights today and I saw this for the first time.

The first 8 rounds were super boring in my opinoin, you had like 10 seconds of action, then you had just them not clinching, but leaning on eachother with their guard up.

I rewatched Foreman Holyfield receently, and this was around the same time I believe. Evander was super active against George, but for some reason, he just has an open mouth hanging his mouthpiece out for most of the fight.

Bowe atleast was a little active, but not that much. The last 3 rounds were actually good though, so unless you judge the whole fight on them, then yeah it was good.

I scored it 7-4-1 Bowe, but wasn't impressed.

    Bowe looked very very beatable

Thats one of my favorite HW fights. My favorite moment is probably the one below where they went at it. This kind of "I'm gonna prove I'm better than you" attitude is what todays HW division is missing. These guys in the 90's fought with something to prove and it showed.

Round 10 is one of the best examples I've seen of a guy getting severely hurt, recovering, and then getting back into the fight.

I'm not denying those last 3 rounds being good, but it just felt like most of the fight ,like the first 8 rounds had movements of ype like the 2nd round, but outside of that, most of them were just the two of them not really clinching but just leaning on eachother

I love it. Watched it live on TV, and the first few rounds flew by…it was even better not knowing the outcome.

I think only the FOTC and Norton-Holmes eclipsed it for heavyweight excitement.

I’ve seen this fight probably 50 times over the years and I never tire of watching it.

I got into a way better fight myself on that very day.
My girlfriend at the time was the most beautiful woman that I have ever known, the love of my life, and her birthday was 13 November. I suggested that we celebrate her birthday on the 14th because i really wanted to see Riddick and Evander fight on the 13th.
The ensuing brawl did not go my way. It was, and is, the most spectacular kicking of my ass on record.

It's much more exciting when you are watching it live.

God-like heart Cruiserweight versus flesh and bones heavyweight with Eddie Futch in his corner. Throw the lineal title into the mix and you really amp up the stakes.

And yeah, I like it technique-wise. Futch, Holyfield, in-shape Bowe. Damn fun fight in general.

I thought it was a very good fight. I was just sad to see Evander lose

I don't know what fight you watched. But it wasn't Bowe vs Holyfield #1 if you're suggesting their was a lot of holding and it was boring. This fight was a top five heavyweight fight in boxing history between two prime and undeafeated heavyweights.
Round ten, was one of the greatest rds in boxing history with Holyfield’s comeback after being severely hurt and out on his feet so early in that round and was a testament to his toughness and willingness to fight through severe adversity, and should be seen as inspirational to any boxer in the game today as what can be done with iron determination.
It was a excellent fight..... Or maybe I'm old and just thought it was when I watched it live all those years ago.
