All Team Benavidez is trying to do is goad Canelo into a money fight to get rich. That's it. You can tell it really pisses off Benavidez Sr every time he sees a boxer he perceives to be inferior to David getting a Canelo payday. Plant, Charlo, Ryder, old man GGG and now either Munguia or Berlanga. Everyone except David is making the money.

Rather than badgering Canelo, Benavidez needs to simply make the jump to 175 and carve his own name which is where he should be fighting anyways. He's already got the fans attention as it is so its not like he has to fight for it. All he are some solid fights at 175 under his belt he'll be the one in the spotlight making demands for big bucks.

If Canelo wants to hog the belts fighting low tiers and drag down his legacy in the process then let him. The only person who Benavidez is hurting by staying put at 168 over a Canelo payday is himself.

Maybe that's just me though. If I were him I'd move on and fight much better opponents like Bivol and Beterbiev.

Canelo is a disgrace. When is he going to rematch Bivol and try to avenge his loss?

So this means he hasn't quite walked away from the 3 fight deal after all? And also means the door is still wider open for the Benavidez fight than it was a few days ago.

It’s only February so everyone should calm their jets. Fact is, Canelo could retire right now, the fact that he didn’t fight Benny really doesn’t matter. Would it really make his legacy any larger? His family is set money wise as well.

All of this crying about Canelo ducking is getting boring. If he doesn’t fight him later this year, chances are he never will, and I don’t think it really tarnishes his legacy :nusenuse:

It will tarnish his legacy if Benavidez does something special with his career. Why would it not?

If people remember David Benavidez, they will remember that Canelo ducked him.

But it's up to David to make this more than a 'current events' type of story.

As many have said before, the fight will happen when Canelo decides it will happen and not a second sooner. It doesn't matter if Benavidez agrees to a 99/1 split, the ball will always be in Canelo's court and he's already stated that it's not happening in 2024.

Never !!! Dmitry Bivol took Gingers soul when he gave him the beating he'd been deserving for years

You're asking for a guy to not persue a fight against easily one of the top 3 best fighters DB will ever have a chance to share the ring with, one of the most legacy defining fights he can ever make, the highest profile fight he can ever have and likely against the highest rated and accomplished fighters he will ever have the opportunity to face.

Of course he's going to be clawing for this fight.

It's becoming obvious at this point that Canelo is ducking DB.

Slightly understandable at first, but now its getting a bit sad to see.

And this doesn't benefit Canelo, any delay in the fight only Benefits Benevidez. Canelo needs to fight him this year before Canelo slips even further.

It benefits Canelo if Benavidez moves up. Canelo will probably wait for him to have a couple of fights at 175 then he'll give him a shot if he agrees to come back to 168.

Canelo's intestinal fortitude has been more that supect ever since the day he meekly handed back the WBC 160 belt when he was ordered to defend it against GGG . His excuse? "Im not really a middleweight " ROFLMAO
He managed to try & hide it with the help Vegas Boxing Officials & the NSAC making sure he couldn't lose in Vegas. Trouble is he made the mistake of fighting Dmitry Bivol & got his clock cleaned but good Dmitry took Gingers Soul Whupped him like the proverbial red headed stepchild He exposed Canelo from now on he'll be known as Saul Quacknelo Alvarez
