It's crazy to me that Pac was trying to fight in the Olympics this year. He would have dusted everybody. :deal:

I mean... he's a 45 year old flyweight, retired for 3 years, professionally winless in half a decade.

He would have done well up to a point, but versus the upper echelon best-of-the-best medal stage amateurs from around the world? There's a good chance he would have just embarrassed himself. The last we saw of him is a far cry from the best welterweight version of Pac of 2009-2011ish.

Or he would have won a gold medal. Most likely he would have fought a slick Cuban at some point, so you never know.

You do realize there isn't even a welterweight division this year, right?

Pac's choices would have been to boil to 63.5kg (light welter; he definitely can't do that anymore) or face functionally middleweights at 71kg (the amateur "light middle" is 156.5lbs)

I don't think he's winning gold against natural MW's half his age at this point...

No WW division this year? Dayum. Yeah maybe he would have gotten embarrassed then.

There's no Middleweight division either, as far as I know. Our best amateur bloke is a Middleweight who's having to fight up at Light Heavy.

Anyone knows where to watch this? Looks to me - unless I'm having a brain-fart - that on Olympics channel, They only have transmission scheduled for 9-11 of March, probably the final days? Yet, the tournament is going on. Usually, over the last couple of years, one could watch anything from start to finish.

Thanks champ. Probably a "fallout" from all the AIBA/IBA controversy. Maybe They were corrupt, but at least You could count on them providing reliable streams on their channels!
Not even sure who handles the qualifiers right now, it's IOC themselves? Or that new body which some countries formed after withdrawing their teams from IBA competition?

It will be interesting whether Arlen Lopez and Julio Cesar La Cruz can each win their third Olympic gold medal this year. Obviously they first have to qualify for the games in Paris. For La Cruz this would be his fourth Olympic games - first being the ones in London where he lost in the quarter-finals against Falcao Florentino.

The only three fighters to win 3 gold medals are: Laszlo Papp, Teofilo Stevenson and Felix Savon. One Hungarian and two Cubans.

You need to switch names Manny has never tested positive for any Ped abuses or illegalities of any kind. But change the name to Floyd Joy Sinclair Mayweather .Jr up Pops IV Gate & several more suspicious test results appear The Icing the cake was when the
NSAC stated " Mr Mayweather did nothing wrong" LOL Then issued him his retroactive TUE for the saline in his own home he never ever applied for Three Weeks Later

7 weight classes for men is far too little.
