If James Had Being Around In, let's say the early 50 s, got himself a few shots at Sugar Ray Robinson, doyou see him ever getting a victory?

I don't think so. SRR gives Toney the same problems RJJ gave him. Faster feet, quicker combinations, and more versatile game.

Robinson fought so often that I could see Toney squeaking out a decision on his best night. But, more often than not, he loses, and, Robinson wins any series of 3.

    Wasn't that in the early 1960 s?
We could say tho that Randy Turpin got the win so...

Moyer beat SRR in the early 60s

I think SRR in the early 50s could decision Toney.

I am going to go with no.

As others have alluded to, he is strong on the elements of the game, where Toney generally assumes the home advantage.

Probably once. He was something else at MW. The Tiberi performance is hard to forget.

I’d say in a series of three Robinson would win the majority - I think it’s in the cards for James to win though and all three fights to be very close.

It’s not impossible, but unless they fought quite a number of times I would say it’s unlikely due to styles.

If he had three shots, I give him a 20% chance of getting a decision in one of those fights. James wasn't always in shape and he would have be in top shape to catch SRR. He could do it but he probably wouldn't do it.
