Reading this post Astro you must have worked with Hearn Jnr quite a bit with your experience in boxing and to a lesser extent golf? That’s how you know firsthand that he is so disliked within the game?
I had exactly the same feeling 30 - 35 years ago when I was in Las Vegas for the first time. It was exciting to see the places in reality that you had seen on TV. I've been there many times since and I don't like Vegas. I call it the fake city.
I have never met Eddie Hearn personally, but I have spoken to many of his Promoter colleagues and I am deeply impressed by how he can make himself so unpopular and make so many enemies in such a short time
We disagree on that one. With all those amazing restaurants I would go for a weekend every month if I could .
I loved traveling all over the world and had a great time for approx. 25 years until I passed out on an assignment in Las Vegas. After that I turned my life around and stayed home. Don't miss flying or staying at an airport either
I’ve nothing against that idea tbh. As long as it’s done in real time and not accidentally delayed (which would sound ridiculous) it isn’t going to hurt. First time I went to see WWF too many years ago, hearing the ring miked inside the arena made me realise how the shows are produced - darts had the same for a while. I’m surprised they don’t put really strong mikes over the ring to properly capture the gloves battering the skin; that in itself would add more atmosphere straight away.
Sorry, my bad. Agree MSG is great for boxing and that Skyline ringside bar is so easy to get drinks and back to your seat in no time too. Originally I was a bit pissed when the Barclays Centre in Brooklyn started taking certain fights away from the Garden, but most of the time it was crappy Haymon mismatches so I got over that pretty quickly.
