Opetaia would obliterate him at CW.

He’s no hope of making it to HW.

Not a chance, he would get cooked at cruiserweight let alone heavyweight.

by who? opetia is good but he only has 1 world class win on his resume against a 37 year old. Fools still underestimating Benavidez. Quite funny.

No. His size is a big part of why he’s effective and every weight class he moves up he will look less special.

    I'll pose this:

Think of (throughout all of boxing history) all SMW's, even LHW's that have made a "splash" at HW. Think of those men and then measure their attributes against David Benavidez's attributes and results to date..............

So you think he can beat Opetaia then?

What weight class is Benavidez in? He’s a super middleweight. Jumping up from light heavyweight to Cruiserweight is a big big leap, it’s not like the other weight classes. Jai Opetaia is objectively an extremely gifted fighter and beating Briedis, even at 37, trumps anything Benavidez has done.

DB can have success at LHW, he’s a very good fighter, but to call it ‘foolish’ to suggest that cruiserweight is too big a leap and the top guys there would be too much for him is being naive imo. David still has much to prove and we’ve not seen him in there with a guy who is bigger and more powerful than him yet.

No, he only has a 74.5 inch reach, Crawford has a 74 inch reach, I feel Usyk will struggle v Fury because of his 78 inch reach.

You do realise Benavidez best win probably is Plant? Even 37 year old Briedis would molest Plant at CW.

Francis Ngannou has a 78 inch reach and would still out-jab the shot armed Benevidez, imagine Benevidez 74.5 inch reach v AJ last night.

    No

He looks soft at 168lbs on the scales and even rehydrated he looks soft. His genetics doesn't lend well to gaining muscle (at least terms of looking chilselled).

Let's see how he looks at LHW but I think he will hit his ceiling and be exposed as a weight bully.

At this stage Opetaia is just a one hit wonder. His whole resume is literally domestic level cans, and its foolish to get carried away over 1 win which was a tough win where he got his jaw broken badly. Apart from Briedis he does not even have a Porky Medina level win on his record. David on the other hand has a long resume of solid to very good wins and is more proven as a pro. That is a fact. Like I said those divisions are weak , proven by a 40 year old Badou Jack being champion at Cruiser, and he is smaller and never was in Davids class as a fighter.

And yes its very foolish to dismiss someone like David so casually at this stage.

I think his reach listing is way off like his height. His tale of the tape against Dirrell listed his reach at 77 inches which seems more believable considering how long his arms look. I find it hard to believe crawford has equal reach.

Id like to see the canelo fight before he moves up in weight.

But hasn't he moved to light heavy to fight gvodzyk.

    Anyone seen gvodzyk recent fights.

Has the nail still got it after three beterbiev beat down?

If so I wouldn't sleep on him.

He doesn't beat Hrgovic, Wallin, Joyce, Parker, even Johnny Fisher and Co would most likely stop him.
