No one has gone to Canelo's body with the combination of speed/punch output/power that DB is capable of. It would get real ugly after about seven rounds.

Plant held on for dear life like a child throwing a tantrum. Andrade looked he'd fought about 20 rounds.

Canelo knows what he'd be in for.

Ignoring the whole first 5 rounds of the fight when Plant was dominating him head on are you? Lets stick to the facts. Benavidez only started winning after Plant gassed which, funnily enough, was similar to Andrade even though Andrade was from 154/160.

Benavidez would get beat in all likelihood. He looks impressive against smaller/lesser guys, but he's never been in the ring with a defense animal like Canelo who is more accurate, hits harder than him and will certainly exploit Davids lack of defense.

Correction, no one has gone to the body vs Canelo much, period. There's a reason why they stop early in the fight, that counter uppercut penalty is serious enough to be content with jabbing to the body. Even Golovkin was wary of going to the body vs. Canelo. I cant believe guys watch all his fights and cant see this. Again I understand coming into these discussions with fan bias, but make it make sense.

**also if Benavidez trys to wait him out like he did Plant, Canelo won't gas out and be stronger later in the fight. If he pours it on early there will be tons of counter opportunities for Canelo through his leaky defense. I still give Benavidez a good chance but not sold on this "domination" You're selling.

Who said anything about waiting him out? Benavidez will put the pressure on early and wear Canelo -who has never been known for his gas tank- down.

Canelo is a 33 year old plodder. What he did eight years ago is irrelevant... and he honestly lost both fights to GGG, anyway. He can't fight going backwards and if he tries to walk Benavidez down, he will be in for the beating of his life.

We've been over this already. You aren't an actual Clenelo fan. You only support him out of proxy to Mayweather.

And you don't realize that trying to pressure early on will land him in hot water lol. Canelo is a defensive fighter he absolutely can fight going backwards he just hasn't been in a situation where he's needed to in a long time. I'll tell you how this is going to play out, Benavidez is going to start out slow in the 1st couple of rounds like Canelo. He's gonna try the pressure and eat a nasty counter, then his output is going to drop once he has to think about the risk/reward of shots. He's gonna take his chances to the body and just miss getting nailed with an uppercut or worse actually eat it. Then he's only jabbing to the body for much of the rest of the fight. If he decides to ignore the warning shots he's gonna face adversity for the 1st time since early in his career. Canelo will be content with a moderate to low amount of high quality output. It's the reason he has close fights that guys cry about. The opponent takes what feels safe and sometimes fans see that as winning the fight even when it's only jabs and Canelo is landing power. The only factor I can't call is if the size will be a factor, David is much bigger and I feel like if he fought Bivols plan he could possibly win. He won't though and he's not as sound as Bivol either. Could he stop Alvarez? Sure he could, it's boxing, but is it likely? Nah

Cool story. You shoul send it to Canelo and he might actually agree to fight him.

    Canelo knows better, though.

He's going to land one of those counters and guess what? That big ass, hungry, angry Mexican dude is going to be standing right there and ready to return 2-3 shots.

He will use a very effective high guard and alternate between his lead jab and his equally fast lead right, keeping Canelo off balance, and his pace and naturally quick hands alone will cause Canelo to fight faster than he is really capable of. Canelo will start slowing down around round five and DB will help him along with a vicious, two-handed body assault. Round 7 and on will look very much like the Bivol fight with Canelo on the ropes, but he will be in the ring with a REAL finisher who knows where to place his punches, and when.

    Canelo's chin keeps him upright...

... But the ref has seen enough and waves it off.

    TKO 11.

    Canelo knows.
