Pretty shoddy tbh. Don't think it's any better than Whyte - Martin - Brezeale - Molina was at the time.
I think you dont even understand your own post. What higher standard is Fury held too that excuse those three opponents ?
Good thing Usyk dominated Joshua twice or AJ'd already be anointed the GOAT around here for beating an 0-1 MMA fighter.
Franklin is/was a bit of an unknown, even in the states. Since the fight he hasn't done squat, so still a bit of an unknown. Helenius, over the hill, had just got smoked in about a minute by a washed up Wilder. We are not talking about an eastern European. Wallin can't break an egg, and whose claim to fame is losing to an disinterested Fury. We are not talking about an eastern European. Ngannou is an winless boxer, and whose claim to fame is losing to an disinterested Fury. So now that A.J. gets curbed stomped DuBois no one should have been surprised.. Sometimes 20/20 hindsight makes you stop and wonder "what the hell was I thinking".
Keep cleaning up these Joshua fanboys. Although you might need a time machine they're all still currently trapped in the year 2018
So Fury is allowed excuses for his bad performances ? even though he was 254 pounds vs Wallin which is one of his better fighting weights that's the lowest Fury has been in any of his fights since. So I don't think you can use that excuse that "Fury was disinterested" when he was in good shape for Wallin. Fury just got a cut early and Wallin made him fight all credit to Wallin. As for Franklin he was coming off losing a razor thin close decision to Dillian Whyte that some felt he was unlucky to lose. Whyte was fresh off fighting Fury which is Fury's 3rd best win of his career for context.
He was supposed to fight Whyte that night, which would have been a step up from Franklin. And he was supposed to fight Wilder but Wilder shat the bed so the Saudi´s went with Ngannou. People keep overlooking the above or just dismissing it. All in all, it was an OK run considering that he did it in 11 months and coming off of two back to back losses. Heavyweight top 10 (Ring) and their activity level(fights) since the end of 2022: Usyk - 2 Huni - 3 Ajagba - 4 Hrgovic - 3 Joshua - 5 Bakole - 3 Zhang - 4 Kabayel - 3 Fury - 2 Dubois - 4 Parker - 5 Things worked out they way they did and because of how one sided the Dubois fight was, now Joshua´s last 4 fights are completely written off. At least he stayed active and kept scheduling meaningful fights.
Not really. I just think he had an OK run, all things considered. It´s not like he intentionally picked all of those fights and heck, Wallin was a decent fight actually. And he did fight Dubois with the intention of fighting the winner of Usyk-Fury. AJ is a flawed fighter and there is plenty there to not like about him as a person, but at least he tries to fight the best.
