    That's something I love about this fight. Helps to alleviate all the talk from mma fans about how mma fighters withstand punches from 4oz gloves, knees, kicks, ect... and that getting punched with 'pillows' will be easier in comparison.

    The fire was likely referring to the losses and adversity AJ has endured and come back from.

    As for AJ being number one, not sure why beating Ngannou should put him ahead of the guy that beat him twice?

    Of course the fight should have happened. You aren't seeing the big picture and aren't understanding the historical significance of this fight.

    The culmination for this bout's existence is a byproduct of years of discussions regarding what's the better striking sport, MMA or boxing? The best current heavyweight MMA striker vs the best current heavyweight boxing striker. It's put that discussion to bed.

    That wasnt a "striking" match, it was a boxing match.

    Its put to bed whether MMA fighters were better boxers than boxers. Something that was never seriously debated to begin with.

    Ngannou is renowned for his fists so that's what I meant as "striking". To put it simply, Ngannou is the closest thing to a solid boxer in the heavyweight division the MMA community has.

    Regarding the debate of whether MMA fighters were better boxers than actual professional boxers which is what I meant originally, maybe it wasn't seriously discussed with the keen eyed fans but you had ex pro combatants such as Carl Froch and Chael Sonnen, to name a few, picking Ngannou for the victory.

    The casual conversations at pubs and bars, at BBQ's and on twitter will be put to bed. Casual money and casual support is the backbone of the boxing game.

    Well yeah, hes the biggest puncher in MMA history. But being the best boxer in HW MMA does not = being elite in actual boxing, as we just found out in brutal sobering fashion.

    Gane is the best "striker" in HW MMA from a technical and versatility perspective, hes probably more skilled boxing wise than Ngannou in a hit and not get sense as well but is like 30lbs lighter and has nowhere near the same punching power.
