Shins to the dome are definitely pretty hard strikes yes. Lol Cro Cops left high kicks were arguably the hardest strike in all of combat sports.

Y'know fellas, having now slept on it, I think I can safely say, as good as some of these scraps were... I still think the best part of the card was not having to hear or see Dave Diamante. That's what really gave us the bang for the buck

Yes Arch, so much can happen in a fight I think it’s impossible to take it all on board in one viewing. As to Big George, even though he got jobbed, he went out with class when IV’d after the fight, punctuating his complete turn around from 70s George.

For me it’s pretty obvious that Ngannou isn’t a boxer and he was pretty predictable in the fight with fury, the surprising thing was that fury wasn’t moving off the centre line and looked quite heavy footed for him.
It looked like Ngannou was a pretty easy target for some like fury but fury seemed reluctant to really commit to his shots. The openings were there all day.
Ngannou was heavy on his feet and was planting himself, his head movements were not natural like a boxer and doesn’t have a boxer’s muscle memory reactions to ride shots.
He looked like an absolute gift.
But he was unknown and notoriously hard and destructive in his sport, and with a reputation for generational punching power.
I think fury was cautious even before he was put down, and even more so after that.
But forget that fury clearly wasn’t at it for whatever reason, the shot that put him down looked like a nothing shot and one that you wouldn’t think would trouble him.
And then fury really looked like he had the fear of his power and looked like he had tasted the ultimate power, he looked more concerned than he did after the shot he took from wilder.
So that made me think Ngannou had power that just a glancing shot could have been dangerous.
With all that taken into consideration I thought it was quite possible that he would or could catch Joshua, who is widely believed to have a lower punch resistance. And result in him touching the canvas.
I actually think that Joshua took bigger shots than the one that put fury down and shrugged them off and stayed focused.
It suprised me that Joshua would take the risk and fair play to him for doing it, the risk versus reward for him was more than anyone else would have in a fight like this and a loss would have made him a laughingstock and basically end his career.
But he believed in himself and his boxing ability and blocked out all the distractions and hype that could have easily made him take his eye off the ball, and it was a victory for boxing as a sport and a statement that silenced a lot of his critics.
I never believed that Ngannou could take a shot from any of the top heavyweights and not get put to sleep. And I believe that he looked like he was an easy target for a big ko.
He was always open and there for the taking and that’s what Joshua did went in and got the job done in emphatic style.
It’s quite sad that there’s still people who are trying to downplay what he did.
We know he wasn’t a boxer but he was a dangerous fighter who had all but beat the man who most considered the best current heavyweight.
Joshua couldn’t have done it better and he looked confident doing it to.
I didn’t think that Ngannou would beat Joshua but he was a risk for anyone, and I was worried how damaging a loss would be for boxing.
I enjoyed it and the ko is right up there with Povetkin on Whyte and Canelo on khan, he crumpled the best chin in mma and that to me is priceless and it’s the ultimate weapon for any boxing fan to use to silence any argument against mma fans.
Boxing won, mma is back in it’s box, the world is right again Joshua has undone the damage fury did to the reputation of boxing.
It was a great night

 

They are the same guy. One of them was just fighting a p4p generational talent, and the other was fighting a boxing novice.

 

Not sure it was quite the same clean full extension that landed on Ruiz. It was a very decent shot AJ landed on Ruiz, no question. Ruiz's chin that night was iron as far as recovering goes.

Prime Foreman 1.0 was a hell of a fighter for sure. Had his faults, but he was a ring monster.

But!... Foreman 2.0 really impressed me considering his age, etc. Not many heavyweights could jump across multiple decades and still be a real live threat to the division, and then go on to win another world title strap very decisively...

 

Late but i still want to say something:

It's always cool that you name the fighters with their full names!

Nobody in the net does that, at least i didnt see it anywhere, maybe someone else does it too.

Because so called middle names make someone more individual and are good to avoid confusions.

About 20 years ago i had a discussion with a buddy what would happen if Corrie Sanders would have fought Corey Sanders. I mean how would the graphic seperate them?

C. Sanders vs C. Sanders doesnt work, and Corrie Sanders vs Corey Sanders would look weird too.

Corneslius Johannes "Corrie" Sanders vs Corey Sanders would just work perfect.

And the graphic from HBO etc. would show it like this:

C. J. Sanders: White trunks
C. Sanders: Black trunks

No confusion.

Only an example. But yeah, Anthony Oluwafemi Olaseni Joshua is a very unique name. And i am sure there are many guys in the world with the name Luke Fury, or even Tyson Fury, or Tyson Luke (Luke as last name), but not many Tyson Luke Fury's.

I know some people find that cheap. But i always like if something is very clearly, and your style (mentioning all names, not just given and surname) is that.


PS:
This is also very good when it comes to asian names.
Because chinese and korean people dont have middle names, they dont exist. But vietnames do have them.

Looks always like three seperate names, first-, middle and surname.

In todays romanizations it looks like this:

Zhilei Zhang
Dukkoo Kim
Tam Thi Nguyen

Zhilei and Dukkoo are first/given names, but Thi is indeed the middle name of Mrs Nguyen. Her given name is just Tam.
